This week's Psych was ridiculously cute:
Psych: 3-7 Talk Derby To Me
How incredibly adorable was Juliet in her roller derby costume? And her $800 skates, because the others weren't cute - I ♥ her. Also, I think this is the first time I've really shipped Shawn/Juliet; I didn't really care about the pairing one way or another before now (I prefer Gus/Shawn and Lassiter/Juliet, though I'm not particularly shippy about either), but they were seriously adorable this week, with Shawn trying to date her and making dinner and rollerskating and almost hand holding. I kinda want to write fic where he keeps secretly trying to woo her, so that by the time she realises they're dating, they're already in a serious relationship. Anyway, I totally ship them now, because they are awesome.
Also, I'm completely caught up on Greek, which makes me happy. I think I enjoyed the first half of season one a lot better than the second - it felt like it got bogged down a little towards the end, with so much romantic drama that it kind of overshadowed everything else.
I think this is especially true of the whole Cappie/Casey/Evan/Rebecca/Frannie love rectangle plus one. In the beginning of the series, there was the Cappie/Casey/Evan triangle, plus the Casey vs Rebecca and Casey vs Frannie rivalries; social rivalry, in Frannie's case, and both social and sexual, in Rebecca's (which was fitting, for a show I saw as being about the characters' social lives first, with a dash of sex for flavour and a healthy dose - but not overdose - of romantic drama). But then Cappie/Rebecca and Evan/Frannie happened, and suddenly Casey's relationships with both girls became defined by romance and guys. Casey's bid to become ZBZ president - which I thought was going to be her major season one arc - was resolved overnight, and while we've still yet to see the proper spring elections, neither Frannie nor Rebecca as they stand now are in a serious position to challenge her. Rebecca's storyline in the second half of the season revolved almost entirely around her relationship with Cappie, and Frannie's, after some minor tension over the extent of her rehabilitation, was largely centred on her pursuit of Evan.
Which is not to say, of course, that I didn't enjoy the second half of the season; I just found myself nostalgic for fewer serious romantic entanglements, and for more fun, casual (if complicated) sexual dalliances and social dramedy.
Greek: 2-1 Brothers And Sisters
Greek Week! I'm optimistic about season two, and I really loved this episode. I'm enjoying Rebecca's character more and more - which is not to say that I want her to become likable or sympathetic (I like her when she's fun, sexy, and bitchy), but I'm growing to like her and Cappie together (in the short term, though I am kind of looking forward to them breaking up), and I liked the development of her relationship with Casey and of her place in the sorority. And Cordy cameo is always FTW.
Greek: 2-2 Crush Landing
Aww, poor Ash. See, this is why mythical creatures should stay mythical. I liked that her (inevitable) temporary rivalry with Casey didn't go too far, and I loved that Casey came to her senses in the end and ditched the guy, because Hos > Bros. At least they still have, um, a slightly gross shoe bottle opener?
I thought Casey's reaction to Frannie was perfectly fair. And it's no more than Frannie deserved, really, because it isn't one of those things that just happened; Frannie broke Evan and Casey up, pursued Evan when he clearly wasn't over Casey and it was unclear whether Casey was really over him, sabotaged Evan's bid to get Casey back, and started dating him when she knew it would probably hurt Casey (hell, Evan was counting on it) - not to mention Casey's point, which is that it basically condoned Evan's skanky, lying manipulation. (Which I actually loved, but whatever, I like Evan when he's kind of being a dick.) And she can date him all she wants, because I think Casey really is (mostly) over him this time, but she shouldn't expect her and Casey to be friends, too - especially after Casey's hesitation over trusting her again in the first place.
Also, I didn't hate Rusty's storyline this week, given that he's usually my least favourite main character. (Ash is totally my fave.) The barricade thing was fun, and he resolved his dilemma with a minimum of angst. Good work, Rusty.
