Home sweet box-filled home

Guess who finally moved? Okay, it's me! I have three words - Hell. Freaking. Yes.

I'm loving the house, even if it's a lot smaller than our last one, because it's really very cute. Which is a good thing, considering we'd already paid the bond + rent before I even got a chance to see it. Most of our stuff is still yet to be unpacked, but I like that I can take my time with it (unlike packing, which we essentially did in a weekend).

Dealing with the movers was an absolute nightmare. First they couldn't come in the morning, like we wanted, but they said they'd arrive between two and six. Around five, they called to say they've blown a tire and it'll be more like seven. Then they said they were unable to drop off their previous load, so they'll arrive the next morning; the only trouble is that we needed to be in Melbourne that night. Luckily, my mum is awesome, and she waited at the house for the movers while we drove down ahead of them and literally camped inside the new house for two nights. Then, of course, when they finally got to the house, they couldn't fit everything in the truck, despite having a detailed inventory of everything we wanted them to take, and they had the nerve to charge us an extra hundred dollars because they underestimated how much space it would take up. And acted like they were doing us a favour because they should have charged more. (Oh, and when they got down here, I had to stop myself laughing out loud when one of them complained, not very subtly, about a box of videos being too heavy. Well, yeah. That would be why I wrote heavy, underlined and in all caps, on the box. Duh.)

But, we're here now. I finally have internet access again, and my new computer should arrive in a couple of days. I still have a huge backlog of fic (mainly Heroes ficlets) to post, which is good, considering it's been a week or two since I really sat down to write the way I have been lately, and might be another week or so before I do again. I'll finally be updating [livejournal.com profile] fivebyfiction, too, which I've been neglecting, but luckily it runs pretty well without mod intervention. Age of Glory is a different story; still no idea what I'm going to do about that, but I suppose I'll figure it out.

Oh, and I'm watching season 5 of Smallville on DVD, which was, like, the best anniversary present ever. (Fandom gifts totally pwn jewellery.) Despite its capability to make me fangirlishly squee with satisfying frequency, it really is sometimes almost painfully bad. I'm choosing to not care. Plus, I love Lois, and Lana is significantly less Sue-ish this season than last (and really, what the fuck was up with her storyline in season 4?).
