Spoiler: Basically they're all really miserable
I saw Les Misérables yesterday! I know there's been a bit of backlash against it, but I really enjoyed it. I'm not super familiar with other versions of Les Mis, so that probably helped, and I'm not sure it was quite as hyped over here as it was elsewhere, so that probably did, too ;) BUT OMG ANNE HATHAWAY A+++++, NICELY PLAYED. Eddie Redmayne was pretty great too, but Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter were probably my favourites (AFTER ANNE HATHAWAY, HER FLAWLESSNESS >>>>>> EVERYONE), they were super entertaining. And I have a huge crush on Éponine, who doesn't?
BUT BASICALLY I CAME OUT OF IT SHIPPING ÉPONINE AND COSETTE A WHOLE BUNCH, IDEK, SOMEBODY PLEASE WRITE ME THE AU WHERE SHE'S DRESSED AS A BOY AND THERE'S ~CONFUSION SO VALJEAN MISTAKES HER FOR MARIUS AND SAVES HER LIFE INSTEAD AND THEN BRINGS HER HOME TO COSETTE, LIKE, HERE, I BROUGHT YOU A BOYFRIEND! And then Cosette nurses her back to health and by the time she figures out Éponine's actually a girl, oops, they're already totes in love, and at first she doesn't tell her dad because she's afraid of his reaction, but then when he finds out, he's pretty much just like, I don't have to pay your parents for you, too, do I? AND THEN THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER AND IT'S THE GREATEST THE END.
Alternatively, I want the story where Valjean and Cosette run away to England or Spain or wherever, and since they're not in constant danger of being caught he tells her all about his past and they have epic father-daughter adventures (BECAUSE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS MY FAAAAVOURITE, FATHER-DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIPS GIVE ME ALL THE FEELS, COME TALK TO ME ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVED THAT VALJEAN WAS ALL LIKE, HEY, I GUESS I'LL GET A KID, OH LOOK I GOT ONE, THIS IS REALLY GREAT) and it's amazing, and I guess Éponine and Marius can be hooking up back in France or whatevs, until he dies probably.
Also, in like twelve hours I'm going to New Zealand, I am super excite. SUCK IT HEAT WAVE, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GET ME OVER THERE.
