Vid recs (for [profile] dayln03)

[livejournal.com profile] dayln03 asked for BSG and/or Sharon recs, which I'm all too happy to provide. I wish I had even more, but in the meantime, here's a glimpse into what BSG looks like from my (Sharon-centric) perspective.

Vid recs: Sharon + ensemble

Girl Next Door by [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe

Cally and Boomer vid, from Cally's POV. I love some of the imagery here - the idea of Cylons as cheerleaders is absolutely priceless, and I wish there were more Boomer vids (or Boomer anything) in fandom.

There There by [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl

I love this vid, which neatly explores some of the parallels between Athena and Boomer (and Helo/Athena and Tyrol/Boomer) and their storylines, especially through season one. [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl is a fantastic vidder, and this vid is no exception.

Hera Has Six Mommies by [livejournal.com profile] tallulah71

I know this vid has been recced a million times over, but it's just that awesome, and it gets better every time I watch it. It's a fascinating look at Sharon and Hera part of a larger queer female collective, which, given the way BSG fandom lends itself to femslash, means this was a vid that really needed to be made.

Jolene by [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell

I really, really love this vid; when I first downlaoded it, I played it on almost constant rotation. It's predominantly a Cally (and Tyrol/Cally) vid, but it's unique in its framing of Tyrol's season four storyline as a sexual betrayal - which, given the way it was portrayed on the show, is not actually a stretch. I love the use of Sharon in this, as both Cylon and Other Woman, and really, I just adore the vid.

Only by [livejournal.com profile] cherryice

This is really about the Final Four, but I love the parallels it draws between them and Boomer, especially given the similarities (and differences) in their situations and the way their respective storylines played out. It's something I really wish the show would explore a little more, because I really think Boomer was given the short end of the stick, consequence-wise, and I love this vid for exploring that a little more fully.

Promise by [livejournal.com profile] repr0b8

My ship! This is, I think, my favourite Helo/Sharon vid, sharp and action-y and ironic. (And for more Helo/Sharon vids, I'd recommend both [livejournal.com profile] repr0b8's and [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe's vids.)

Halo by [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe

Another awesome Boomer vid. Atmospheric and evocative, it reminds me how very much I loved Boomer in season one, and takes me back along her journey in a powerful, poignant way.

Lay Me To Sleep by [livejournal.com profile] dayln03

Yeah, okay, I know it's ridiculous to rec you your own vid. But this is my playlist, so I can do whatever ridiculous thing I want. And I adore this vid - it's short and amazing and packs a punch, and it is totally necessary for my Sharon playlist.

Handlebars by [livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic

A general season four ensemble vid, but Sharon has her own little section, so I'm happy. Quite a few season four vids came out after the mid-season finale aired, but this is by far my favourite, and is one of my favourite BSG vids.

And a bonus vid:

Battlestar Inferno by [livejournal.com profile] superduperkc

Because, seriously, do you have any idea how hard it is to put together a BSG rec list without including yours and [livejournal.com profile] superduperkc's vids? Well, it's impossible, apparently, especially if you're me. Besides, this is my very favourite BSG vid ever, so it belongs here. So for the maybe two people out there who love BSG and love vids and haven't seen this? Watch it. Now. It is pure, condensed awesome.
