Dear Yuletide Author
Yay, you're writing me a fic! This is a thing I love, and I'm already excited to read it. If you already have an awesome idea you're totally excited to write, feel free to go ahead and do just that - I love every one of these fandoms, so I'm sure to enjoy anything you could possibly write, especially if you love it, too. But in case you're still looking for that perfect idea, these are just a few of the things I love in fic, and in the fandoms I requested, which may give you some idea of what would make me particularly happy.
In general, I love fun, happy fic, and am not so much into angst. But if you want to write angst, that's okay, too! I love banter, unresolved (and resolved) sexual tension, romantic comedy, action/adventure, wacky hijinks, humour, crack, and ridiculous AUs. I love apocafic, angsty or otherwise (but especially otherwise). I love first times, and secret relationships, and casual hookups, and ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and rekindling old relationships. I love people being in love without having to say it; and people who are obviously in love but maybe don't realise it; and ridiculously overblown romantic gestures where one person completely embarrasses themselves, because that's kind of the point of the grand gesture; and tiny, unnoticeable gestures that mean a whole lot more than they seem to. The stuff I don't love pretty much boils down to making the characters I love unhappy for no good reason. And character bashing, even of characters I don't like. I'm happy to read any rating, and smut is welcome but absolutely not necessary.
Miss Match (Any)
I love this fandom, and I would love any kind of fic written for it - gen or shippy, drama, comedy, crack, crossover, AU, whatever. As far as pairings go, Adam/Kate is my favourite; I'd love to see fic where he keeps pursuing her, and where she (reluctantly) falls for him, but obviously that's just one of the many things I would love. (Other things I love: hanging out at the bar, Kate in matchmaking mode, first dates, blind dates, not-a-date dates, anything and everything where characters interact with each other. I'm fairly easy to please.) I also ship Michael/Kate and Nick/Victoria as well as Kate/Victoria (femslashy or as BFF), and if there are other ships you enjoy, go for it; the only thing I'm not really looking for in this fandom is boyslash. Anything in the style of the show is great, as is anything not in the style of the show; really, anything at all would be fantastic.

A couple of years ago I put together a fandom primer that mentions a bit about what I love about the show, which is, basically, all of the characters, all of the relationships, the fact that every episode contains its very own miniature romantic comedy, and, well, everything else. Basically, I just really love Miss Match a lot. Kate and Victoria are my absolute favourites, but really, I love every character (and just to clarify my request a little - I'm happy to read boyslash if you wanted to include Kate matchmaking original or crossover characters, but I'm not interested in reading it in regard to the canon characters). I'd particularly love anything in the style of the show - that is to say, something romantic comedy-ish - but I'd be just as happy to read something plotty, or dramatic, or smutty, or anything else you could possibly write. Miss Match crossovers are also more than welcome, and really, anything at all written in this fandom would be beyond awesome, so if you have an idea you'd like to write, run wild with it!
Make It Or Break It (Sasha Belov/Payson Keeler)
Payson is my very favourite. I love the way she's super competitive, and super competent, and (surprisingly) super adorable. I love how breaking her back was a minor setback on her way to the Olympics. And I really, really love everything about her relationship with Sasha. I love the gymnastics, and the training, and the way they're both so dedicated and intense and focused, and the way that, even before the kiss, they had this really strong connection between them - and the way that, after the kiss, Sasha made absolutely no effort to distance himself from Payson, or to make their relationship any less ~inappropriate. And then there was that time he took her on a date to the ballet, and gave her his gold medal(!), and she cooked him dinner, and when Summer called him on it, he was all, we have a very special relationship, we've been through a lot together, you wouldn't understand. So, there's that. Obviously, I would love to read shippy fic, but I'm okay with gen, too - anything that has Payson being her awesome self, and interacting with Sasha in some way, would be fantastic.
All you really need to know is: I love this show in a non-ironic way, I love the dynamic between Sasha and Payson, and Payson Keeler is basically my very favourite ever. If you'd like to write about more than just Sasha and Payson, I also really love all the gymnastics stuff; and the relationships between Payson, Lauren, Kaylie, and Emily; and the way the show is essentially all about girls. I also really, really love Kelly Parker, if you wanted to include her in some way; less so Ellen Beals, but she's always good for conflict. I don't mind when you set the fic, or if it's AU (a little bit, or in a completely ridiculous way - they don't have to be gymnasts!), but I'd rather it not be set too far in the future - up to and including the Olympics is fine.
Diplomatic Immunity (Any)
I love this show a lot! Leighton, Leilani, and Kirsty are my favourites - alone, together, or in any combination, het, gen, or femslash. Things I particularly love: Leighton's face(!), especially when he's totally smitten with Leilani, and the way he doesn't quite know how he got where he is but he knows he's in way over his head; Leilani's crusading and political campaigns and adorable fear of whales; Kirsty's attitude and pranks and wardrobe and general awesomeness. I also love the rest of the cast - Jonah and his awesome one-liners and utter contempts for Leighton; Sugah and her man-eating ways; Malepe and his endearing incompetence; Mick and his ridiculously shady deals. I'd love to read ensemble fic, or casual hookups, or romantic comedy, or episode-style wacky hijinks where - shockingly! - something goes completely wrong in the most hilarious way. Basically, I'd love just about anything.
Another so-small-it's-almost-nonexistent fandom, but one that's close to my heart. I put together a fandom primer if you wanted to find out more about the show, or what I love about it - which, essentially, is everything. Something with an element of humour in it would be beyond amazing, as would ensemble fic, and anything that focuses on and/or pairs up any combination of Leighton, Leilani, and Kirsty.
The Office RPF (B.J. Novak/Mindy Kaling)
Things I love about B.J. and Mindy: The fact that Mindy Kaling is the most awesome person in the world. The fact that they have the best witty banter ever. The fact that they dated.The fact that B.J. is still totally in love with her. (Okay, so maybe some of these aren't actual facts, but you get the picture.) Also, this video clip where B.J. tells Mindy he loves her, and it sounds like it's supposed to be a joke, except it didn't quite get there. And Subtle Sexuality. And everything about Ryan and Kelly ever, especially when they're written by B.J. and Mindy. Really, I would love anything you could write about these two - like, about writing for the show, or secretly (or not-so-secretly) dating, or B.J. secretly (or not-so-secretly) pining, or the Epic Romance Of Awesome Between B.J. And Mindy, or, really, anything at all, because I love these two so much, so, surprise me! If you can't manage shippy fic, gen is absolutely fine - I love them as friends, too.
Basically: B.J. and Mindy are awesome, The End. If you like working with prompts, I would absolutely die to read some romantic comedy or courtship fic - like, where one person kind of pursues the other, and there are various complications and then everything works out okay in the end, because I'm totally a sucker for that kind of thing. And I'm pretty much convinced that they're in love (because, seriously, who wouldn't love Mindy Kaling?), but you don't have to be - like I said in my prompt, gen is perfectly fine. As long as the fic has B.J. and Mindy being awesome together, I'm happy.
