I wish I was a mermaid and was friends with all the fish

I haven't updated in so long, except to post exchange letters and whatnot. So ... I'm still alive? Busy, ugh, but working, yay, and I should find out any day now if I still have a job for next year. Being on contract sucks.

Things I've been doing lately: Reading comics. Watching cartoons (in other words, I finally caught up with Young Justice COME TALK TO ME ABOUT THE [SPOILER] CAMEO IN THE LAST EPISODE). Not writing anything at all ever. Watching the rest of The Nine Lives of Chloe King - I'm up to the last episode and so not ready for it to end, why does TV always cancel everything good? I love it so much though, P.S. COLTON HAYNES WAS IN THIS ONE EPISODE SO THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE INTO THAT AT ALL SHOULD TOTALLY WATCH THIS SHOW, IT'S ONLY TEN EPISODES LONG YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO. Also the guy who plays Isaac, but I care less about him.

I know I never ever post about it here, but I love the crap out of that stupid show, and Lydia is totally my favourite (and then Scott, why don't people love Scott? He's so faily and adorable) but somehow I have ALL THE FEELINGS about Jackson, I just want them to be improbably OTP forever and ugh, still totally sad about this even though it hasn't been news in forever.

I didn't originally offer The Mindy Project for Yuletide because I'm honestly not sure how much I like the show yet (but it's Mindy so I'll keep watching forever regardless, and the episodes have been getting a lot better, so), but apparently I really want to write fic for it? I kept reading people's letters and getting really excited by Mindy Project requests, so then I just bit the bullet and offered it officially. Apparently it is my destiny to ship Mindy hard with short dark-haired guys who don't want to be in love with her but secretly totally are on shows I'm actually not all that into otherwise FOREVER. That's ... a weirdly specific type, whatever.

There is probably more, but I'm only off work for a couple of hours (I have a half day today) before I have to go back in for a meeting, I could have just stayed but I'm not feeling great plus I really wanted to have lunch at home. Thank you so much for writing me a fic! I'm sure it's going to be amazing, and I'm so looking forward to reading it. My requests are a little on the wordy side, but please don't let that intimidate you - if my optional details don't work for you, or if you already have an idea in mind, I'd much rather get a great story you're really excited about than something mediocre tailored exactly to my requests. But just in case you enjoy reading yuletide letters as much as I enjoy writing them, here are some ideas/extra information/things that would make me especially happy.

I love banter, unresolved (and resolved) sexual tension, romantic comedy, awesome plots, action/adventure, wacky hijinks, humour, crack, PWPs, apocafic, and ridiculous AUs. In general, I'm not super into angst. I really, really, love tropes and clichés, which I know is unhelpfully vague, but: If you're ever wondering, does she want fic with pretending to be a couple/forced proximity/sharing a bed/bachelor auction/truth or dare/accidental makeouts/insert ridiculous cliché here, the answer is yes, yes I do. I love first times, and secret relationships, and casual hookups, and ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and rekindling old relationships. I love people being in love without having to say it; and people who are obviously in love but maybe don't realise it; and ridiculously overblown romantic gestures where one person completely embarrasses themselves, because that's kind of the point of the grand gesture; and tiny, unnoticeable gestures that mean a whole lot more than they seem to. The stuff I don't love pretty much boils down to making the characters I love unhappy for no good reason. And character bashing, even of characters I don't like. I'm happy to read any rating, and smut is welcome but absolutely not necessary.

Ashleigh Howard, Greek. We would borrow each other's clothes and plan fun college parties and watch 80's rom-coms together, it would be awesome. If I could be friends with any fictional character in the universe, it would be Ashleigh.

Kelly Kapoor, The Office. Okay, honestly, I'm not sure I could stand full-time Kelly, but - Ryan does it? And he's only gone a little bit insane? Plus, she is super fantastic, we could go shopping and paint our nails and watch crappy girly movies and be super excited about BASICALLY ANYTHING THAT IS AWESOME, and she's essentially Mindy Kaling on crack through a sitcom filter, so what's not to love about that?

Ted Mosby, How I Met Your Mother. Oh, Ted! I love him, and I don't even care if he pronounces encyclopedia like a tool. I would let him show me architecture and be pretentious and I would listen super patiently to all his many and varied romantic woes and I would fix him up with all my cool single girlfriends even though it would inevitably end in disaster because one day he might just make it work, and we would dress up and go to really boring parties AND THEN WE WOULD WATCH SOME FIGHTING ROBOTS, COME ON, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH TED MOSBY TOO.

Eli Wallace, Stargate Universe. I blame this entirely on a dream I once had where we were friends and bad stuff was happening and then he cuddled me and I felt better, but whatever, he looks like he'd be awesome at cuddling. And that's my entire reasoning. Sometimes you just need a friend who gives good hugs.

Cara Mason, Legend Of The Seeker. I'm - not really sure how this one would work? At least the others live in what is more or less the real world, but whatever - regular Cara, or modern AU!Cara, or whatever, I think she would be an awesome friend, fierce and snarky and loyal and excellent in bed. If you earned it. And nobody can eye roll like Cara, don't even true to argue.

Ugh, how am I so behind on everything? I swear, two weeks ago I was writing like crazy and had no real commitments, then I slow down just a tiny bit, and suddenly I have this whole mess of stuff that needs to be finished. I blame this Halloween fic, WHY AREN'T YOU FINISHED ALREADY?

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

Minimum word count is only 750 words, so if you're into RPF, you should go check it out; two of your requests need to be from a list of nominated fandoms, but the other two can be from anything you like, as long as it's a scripted television show or movie (and crossover requests are allowed). If you'd like to participate, but can't meet the fandom requirements, you can comment at the exemption post, and you may still be able to sign up if there are people to match you with.

I've almost narrowed down the fandoms I want to write/request; right now, I think I'm going to ask for The Office (B.J./Mindy! ♥), Wizards Of Waverly Place, Princess Protection Program, and ... maybe Glee, IDK. Anyway, you should all go there and request some sort of Disney RPF, like maybe David/Selena, or Demi/Selena, or something else that's awesome - High School Musical is even one of the official fandoms. Or, you know. You could request some other kind of RPF, if that's not your thing. But do consider signing up!


Now, I'm going to try to watch Subtle Sexuality from my corner of the world. (THIS IS SOMETHING I NEED IN MY LIFE, OMG.) ETA: No luck! I have tried, like, everything. And you guys, this is something that has Ryan and Kelly, together, in the same room, maybe even interacting! Clearly, I need to watch it. So if anybody could possibly hook me up, I'd probably love you forever.
