Incidentally, both times I wrote from a male POV, it was for a character played by Gregory Smith. It's possible there was a theme to this year?
QUESTIONS
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Less. Like, even less than last year, but I'm pretty sure I was even busier this year. Also: it is impossible to get used to grad school, it will always kick your ass.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Probably Rookie Blue - procedurals generally aren't really my thing, but man, this fandom <3.
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Space Invaders. Apparently big bangs are still super fun? Plus, ridiculous alien shenanigans, so.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I'd never written a college AU before Sex Is Not The Enemy (But You Still Are), which was super fun. Also, I wrote a WOWP pairing that was not Justin/Alex for Amusement Shark Rides, which was definitely breaking out of my comfort zone.
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
Okay: If I end up doing casual work like I'm expecting, I'd actually like to start writing regularly again. If I end up getting a full-time job, though - well, writing at all would be good.
From my past year of writing, what was ...
My best story
I'm pretty happy with A Series Of (Un)fortunate Events. I think - yeah. If that had to be my OT3 manifesto, I would be okay with that.
My most popular story
According to LJ comments (because I still haven't put everything up on AO3), Sex Is Not The Enemy (But You Still Are). Lesbian college AUs FTW!
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion
I always hate this question. But I don't think anybody even read Things You Can't Learn From Books, so.
Most fun
Space Invaders. Big bangs are super fun, especially when they're ridiculous.
Sexiest story
I think this one goes to Conjure Hell Is All I Do. But that's based off a pretty sexy moment in the film, so.
Story with the single sweetest moment
I actually really like:
"Beats me," Santana says, and rolls over so she's on top, kissing Brittany's collarbone, hands tangling with Brittany's beneath the sheet. "Plus, you know I can't get you pregnant, right?"
Brittany gasps and Santana's hand moves lower, underneath her Cheerios uniform. "But you're so sexy."
from Dictionaries For Dummies (Sexicon Remix). Which is probably just stupid, but I think it's cute.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story
I really feel like I should not be as into Ephram/Madison as I am, so, Things You Can't Learn From Books?
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters
She Thinks She's The Dispassionate One (almost) made me ship Ron/April, though my feelings about that are mostly still super conflicted.
Hardest story to write
I had a really hard time getting a handle on Spies Like Us, which was for an exchange, and - while I like it, it ended up not being exactly to spec. (It was as close as I could get it without sucking horribly, but.) Which is probably why the recipient never commented. (Which doesn't mean that doesn't piss me off.)
Most unintentionally telling story
I ... don't think there i one? But it was surprisingly difficult to get Amusement Shark Rides to be anything but gen, so I guess it's pretty telling that it wasn't my OTP. (Also: I am still not used to having an actual OTP. Weird.)
