Okay, so, I actually do remember saying I wasn't going to up and vanish again this year. But! Technically I haven't been gone, just not posting a lot, I'm still up to date on my friends list etc. So, since I haven't been active enough to post one of these in a while, here's a roundup of everything I've been up to since January (hint: not a lot).

Under Covers (Covert Affairs - Annie, Auggie - PG - 3058 words) Auggie's sick (but not if you ask him). Annie's playing nurse (but not if you ask her).

Dictionaries For Dummies (Sexicon Remix) (Glee - Brittany/Santana - R - 1341 words) Four words Brittany doesn't know (and one she kind of does).

Set Fire To This Town (The West Wing - Josh/Donna - NC-17 - 4657 words) What's a girl like you doing in a place like this? Spoilers up to episode 6:15 - Freedonia.

Space Invaders (Wizards of Waverly Place - Justin/Alex - PG-13 - 16,945 words) Justin was right. (Of course.) Which sucks for Alex. Especially since it means aliens are now on their way to Earth, and, oh yeah, they want to destroy the world. So, someone should probably stop them? Spoilers up to episode 4:1 - Alex Tells The World.

... and a vid:

Don't Stop Movin' (Primeval, Ensemble) Team ARC = awesome. (Mostly.)

Firstly: OMG West Wing fic. No, I'm not going through a fannish resurgence, just posting fic I wrote ... three or so years ago? I have no idea why I didn't post it at the time, but oh well, it's done now. (I actually have more of these somewhere, I think, but since they're just comment fics I'll probably leave them.)

Secondly: Accomplishments, yay! For a while there I legit wasn't sure I'd actually finish my [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang fic (the horrors!), but I pulled through. Note to self: procrastination does not work on big bangs. I also managed to get my [livejournal.com profile] helpbrazil2011 fic done, which is of the good; I actually had a bit of a mixed experience with charity auctions this time around, since my [livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction bidder never got back to me, nor did one of the people whose fic I won, but I guess that kind of thing happens. The fic I did end up getting, however, was fantastic - [livejournal.com profile] lotus0kid wrote me Better Off Ted fic, and you should totally read it if you're into that kind of thing (aka. the kind of thing that is amazing).

And I wrote a pinch hit for remix, which was fun, since I talked myself out of actually signing up this time around (disappointing, but realistically a very good idea). I'm totally doing [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon, though.

Thirdly: I signed up for [community profile] femslash11! Which should be okay, since I have holidays coming up in a few weeks, and I really love this ficathon. Also, if there's anybody out there who shares my fandoms (*cough* Sonny With a Chance) and wanted to maybe sign up too, that would be okay. Or whatever.

I have not watched ALL the vids, because that would be insane (there are 174 vids!), but I did watch a lot, and they are all awesome. Since (unfortunately) I can't rec every single vid, here are a few of my very favourites:

[livejournal.com profile] superduperkc said she'd like vid recs, but not tailored to her interests - as she said, "because vidding is one of my interests, I will watch almost anything in almost any fandom." And that struck a chord with me, because increasingly, so will I. When I first started watching vids, I stuck to fandoms I loved, and then to fandoms I was familiar with, and have got to the point now where I love watching vids even - sometimes especially - in fandoms I know nothing about. (And I'm sure I'm not the only person who has discovered, or rediscovered, love for a fandom via watching vids.) So, with that in my mind, I decided to put together a themed rec list - vids from shows I had never seen, or had watched a bit of but wasn't really fannish about. And somewhere along the line, this morphed into a fantasy playlist of vids for fandoms I'm not in (or wasn't, at the time of first viewing).

For [livejournal.com profile] superduperkc: I hope there are vids here you haven't seen, and that you enjoy your recs as much as I enjoyed putting them together.

Nine fics this month, in six fandoms plus a couple of crossovers:

Dark Angel

Consolation Prize (Original Cindy/OFC - PG - 230 words) "She is so checking me out."

Doctor Who

Genealogy (Eight - G - 100 words) "I'm half-human." Spoilers up to episode 4:13 - Journey's End.

Supersonic (Rose/Sarah Jane - PG-13 - 100 words) There are many uses for a sonic screwdriver (or sonic lipstick).

She's The Man

Token (Olivia/Viola - PG - 130 words) She tells herself it's for charity.

Stargate SG-1

The Case Of The Missing Jello (Among Others) (Teal'c, Vala - PG - 1228 words) Five times Teal'c and Vala cheated.

Torchwood

The West Wing

Crossovers

Dead Man's Party (Studio 60/Sports Night - Jeannie/Kim - PG-13 - 297 words) Just another Studio 60 wrap party.

Sunset Boulevard (The West Wing/Studio 60 - Ginger/Jeannie - PG-13 - 300 words) Sam's already complained twice about being offered jobs in development, and Ginger's not even sure what that is.

Most of these were written for International Day of Femslash plus the [livejournal.com profile] femslash08 fic exchange (you can blame [livejournal.com profile] talumin for the crossover prompts). The Case of the Missing Jello was written for [livejournal.com profile] sg_fignewton's Teal'c Alphabet Soup, and Genealogy was my contribution to post-Journey's End fic - unofficially subtitled "In which Eight is not a lying liar who lies, but in fact just got his tenses a bit mixed up," because the entire concept amuses me. It also reminds me that I was watching the Doctor Who movie a few weeks ago and stopped partway through (which is something I did to at least three movies in the past month), so I should really finish that.

I wanted to rec my favourite fics from [livejournal.com profile] femslash08, but there were a lot of them, and I'm still not done reading, so they should be up sometime later this week. We all have them, right? Those pairings we love, or maybe are just a little interested in, but which - for whatever reason - simply aren't popular. Maybe it interferes with a fandom's OTP, maybe it features one or more minor characters, maybe it's a het pairing in a primarily slash fandom (or vice versa). Maybe it's completely cracktastic - the two characters have never actually met in fandom, or there's no good reason to ship them other than just because. Or maybe the pairing is actually canon, but is pretty much loathed (or simply ignored) by fandom in general. And sometimes you just wish someone would come along and say, "Hey, I can write that for you!"

Well, why don't we give it a shot? Comment here with any or all of your favourite unpopular pairings, in any fandom you like, and see if maybe there's somebody out there who will write it. Check out other peoples' wish lists, and if there's a fandom you're familiar with, and a pairing you're not completely opposed to, have a go at it. It can be comment!fic, a snippet, whatever - but come give it a shot, try something new, and help spread the love of unconventional pairings.

[What qualifies as an unpopular pairing? As a general rule, if you couldn't compile a rec list without a) including every fic you've ever read, or b) at all, it probably belongs here.]

Fandoms currently represented: Farscape, Firefly, Gilmore Girls, Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Roswell, Sports Night, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, The West Wing, Veronica Mars, Wonderfalls.

[livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon is having another ficathon round :D If you're interested, or even if you just like reading the stories that result, please go votes for fandoms - these are votes, not nominations, so even if a fandom has already been mentioned, go vote for it again! (I'd really, really love for West Wing to be eligible, but there are no limits to what fandoms you can suggest.)

I was about three days late to sign up for the last round, so I'm really looking forward to this one, and to reading the fics that come out of it.
