October fic roundup
For easy reference, I now have all my fics listed by fandom at this post. And because it something I never really bothered to do, but probably should, I'm starting a series of fic roundup posts.
(Also, I wrote 12 fics this month, which is 12 more than I wrote in September, so yay. And added two new fandoms - four if you include the crossover ficlet.)
Arrested Development:
We Could Do The Tango (Michael/Lindsay - R - 475 words) Sometimes, it's about saying goodbye.
Written for
falseeeyelashes in my fic + meta meme. Pre-series Michael/Lindsay smut, which is always fun.
Battlestar Galactica
Eight (Sharon - PG-13 - 367 words) There are things she knows. Not all of them are true. Spoilers up to episode 2:6 - Home (Part One).
My first Battlestar Galactica fic, and my newest fandom. In case it isn't obvious, I adore Sharon. This was a short, introspective piece, and I'm happy with the way it turned out.
Nothing Else (Helo/Sharon, Lee/Kara - NC-17 - 1809 words) There's a serial killer on board the fleet.
Written for
all_hallows_fic. As in, just finished. Completely and utterly AU - in my mind, it's set somewhere in the first season, but Helo is on board, and Sharon and the Chief are no longer together. Oh, yeah, and apparently there's a serial killer on the loose. I originally thought this would come out quite differently, with a stock "Helo and Sharon are chased by a serial killer" storyline, but it digressed into a study of the atmosphere on board the fleet, and what it does to the people there. It also wasn't intended to be quite so smutty, but I'm not complaining.
To The Black (Helo/Sharon - PG - 706 words) Helo doesn't mind being ECO. And it has nothing at all to do with the pretty new recruit. Seriously.
Because I just finished watching season two in all its angsty glory, and needed something to lighten the mood. Pre-series fluff.
Harry Potter:
Enmity (Ron/Draco - PG-13 - 208 words) Almost all conflict is about strategy.
Written for
inthevast in my fic + meta meme. The first time I've written anything remotely slashy, and it was actually a lot of fun.
Stargate Atlantis
As I Say (John - PG - 200 words) John isn't great at taking orders. Spoilers up to episode 1:20 - The Siege (Part Two).
Another new fandom. I had to pause the episode about ten minutes in to get this out, and it was the first thing I'd written (as opposed to posted) in a couple of months. I'm quite amused by the fact that pretty much what I was trying to say with this was echoed by John himself two season later, when he says "but then I would be the man, and who would I rage against?" I choose to take it as a sign I got the characterisation right, rather than cursing the fic for being redundant.
Good Fortune (John/Teyla - PG-13 - 503 words) Every world has its customs. (In other words, aliens made them do it.)
Yep, aliens made them do it. I couldn't help myself, okay? Everyone needs to give into the badfic cliches once in a while. It's good for the soul. Also, this started with the slightly slashy image of John and Rodney turning away from one another a little too quickly, but that got lost in the edits.
Meredith (Rodney, girl!Rodney - PG-13 - 1143 words) Trying to create zero point energy just isn't as simple as it sounds (and really, that's saying something). This time, meet Meredith McKay. Spoilers up to episode 3:8 - McKay And Mrs Miller.
This, I really liked. It started when somebody else mentioned Meredith McKay as part of a genderswap challenge, and my brain, being what it is, decided that girl!Rodney's first name would not, in fact, be Meredith. That ended up as little more than a throwaway line in the final fic, but I was happy for the prompt.
Sparring (John/Teyla, Lorne/Teyla - PG - 431 words) Jealousy can be unexpected sometimes.

tielan in the
john_teyla prompt challenge. Lorne/Teyla is totally my secondary Atlantis OTP, so this was fun to write.
Veronica Mars
And Your Mother Too (Four Funerals And A Wedding) (Lamb, Veronica - PG-13 - 4460) There are some things you can't run from. It turns out that family is one of them. Spoilers up to episode 2:22 - Not Pictured.
My
femgenficathon entry. Actually finished months ago, but only typed up in time to post a little late to the ficathon. I was really happy with the theme of this fic; the first thing that came to mind when I received my prompt was Lamb, which is why it's a Lamb and Veronica story, though I ended up taking the prompt in a different direction than I had first thought. Also manages to be the longest one-shot fic I've written, at just under 4500 words.
Manifest (Logan/Veronica/Lilly - PG-13 - 100 words) Lilly doesn't mind sharing; and anyway, she has nowhere else to be. A coda to episode 1:18 - Weapons Of Class Destruction.

inthevast in my fic + meta meme. I'd read fics involving this pairing, but never actually written one, so it was a fun prompt to get; and then, as always, it ended up turning in an entirely different direction than expected. Really Veronica and Lilly, but lots of OT3 subtext.
Crossovers
Lost Souls (Dead Like Me/Reaper - George, Sam - PG - 232 words) The DMV is hell on earth in more ways than one.
Written for
iluvroadrunner6's Crack Crossover Drabblethon. I haven't written anything else involving these fandoms, but the prompt (waiting in line at the DMV) was too perfect to pass up, and intsa-plotbunnies were born.
