SO, I HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND A LOT LATELY. I AM SO BEHIND ON EVERYTHING, LET'S TALK ABOUT RANDOM STUFF INSTEAD.

1. Unpopular opinions meme!

Name a fandom I participate in/have participated in and I'll list my three most unpopular opinions about it.

2. I have a bunch of icons to talk about from that meme that was floating around, let me know if you want me to pick some of yours.

Icons! )

3. [personal profile] mfirefly10 gave me BSG, SGA, Farscape, and Veronica Mars to talk about my favourite characters )

I am not procrastinating, I am taking breaks. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

A couple of recent topics from [community profile] fannish5 (with some spoilers for the relevant fandoms):

Five (canon) couples that seemingly came out of nowhere

Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place; The Vampire Diaries; The O.C.; Veronica Mars; Buffy the Vampire Slayer )

Who are your five favourite female characters of colour?

Battlestar Galactica, Wizards of Waverly Place, Andromeda, Greek, The Office )

My offer @ [livejournal.com profile] helpbrazil2011 | My offer @ [livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction

I'm offering the same thing for both: At least 3000 words of fic, with a starting bid of $5. (Bidding at [livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction is currently up to $15.) I've offered to write in the following fandoms:

Better Off Ted, Covert Affairs, Diplomatic Immunity, Disney RPF, Doom, Gilmore Girls, Greek, The Guild, Hawaii Five-0, JONAS, Legend of the Seeker, Make It or Break It, Miss Match, The O.C., The Office, The Office RPF, Princess Protection Program, She's The Man, Snow White: A Tale of Terror, Sonny With a Chance, Tin Man, Valentine, Veronica Mars, and Wizards of Waverly Place.

A more comprehensive list of characters and pairings I'll write is here, but if you'd like a fandom/character/pairing not listed, feel free to ask about it and I'll let you know.

They're both excellent and needy causes, so I'd encourage everyone to check out what's on offer at both communities and consider making a donation.
amathela: ([wowp] did you forget)
[livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction is holding a charity auction to raise money for those affected by the floods in Queensland. (I'm down in Melbourne, so I'm not affected, but I do have friends and family up there.) Right now, you can go check out other people's offers at the community, or sign up to offer something yourself.

I'm offering at least 3000 words of fic, with a minimum bid of $5. Het, femslash, or gen, AUs and crossovers are fine. You guys pretty much know what I can write, but here are some details anyway, and I'd be happy to answer any questions.

My thread is here.

Fandoms/characters/pairings I've offered to write:

[Better Off Ted] Ted/Veronica
[Covert Affairs] Annie/Auggie
[Diplomatic Immunity] Leighton/Leilani, Kirsty/Leilani, Leighton/Kirsty
[Disney RPF] David/Selena, Demi/Selena, Chelsea/Nicole
[Doom] John/Sam
[Gilmore Girls] Chris/Lorelai, Finn/Lorelai
[Greek] Ashleigh/Rebecca, Evan/Casey
[The Guild] Codex/Fawkes
[Hawaii Five-0] Danny/Kono
[JONAS] Joe/Stella, Nick/Stella, Stella/Macy
[Legend of the Seeker] Cara/Kahlan, Richard/Cara, Richard/Kahlan/Cara
[Make It or Break It] Sasha/Payson, Payson/Kelly
[Miss Match] Adam/Kate, Michael/Kate, Kate/Victoria, Nick/Victoria
[The O.C.] Ryan/Taylor
[The Office] Ryan/Kelly
[The Office RPF] BJ/Mindy
[Princess Protection Program] Carter/Rosie
[She's The Man] Olivia/Viola
[Snow White: A Tale of Terror] Will/Lilli
[Sonny With a Chance] Sonny/Tawni
[Tin Man] Cain/DG
[Valentine] Danny/Phoebe
[Veronica Mars] Lamb/Veronica
[Wizards of Waverly Place] Justin/Alex

I'm more than happy to write gen in any of those fandoms - particularly ensemble fic, or fic that features the characters listed. I can work with a specific scenario, a prompt, or whatever you feel like providing. If you're interested in a fandom, character, or pairing that isn't listed, just ask and I'll let you know what I can do :)

A proper update is coming soon, I promise! But in the meantime, have a meme.

- Reply to this post with the phrase I LOVED YOU ACROSS TIME and I will pick six of your icons.
- Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
- Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
- This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.

Or, pick some more of my icons and ask me to talk about them, because this was super fun!

[livejournal.com profile] beerbad picked these icons:

Pretty pretty pictures )

Also, I keep meaning to post and then not really having anything to say (stupid real life, why are you so boring and full of school?), so:

Ask me my Top Five Whatevers. Fannish or literary or otherwise. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! Fandoms, ice cream flavours, cartoon moments, women in my fandoms, OTPs, ideal holiday destinations, goals for the future, celebrity crushes, books I wish would be made into movies, love songs. And I will answer them all in comments a new post.

Sweet Charity ends in less than 24 hours, so there's still time to bid. We've raised almost £7,000 already, which is completely awesome. It's slightly less awesome than I've been outbid on all the things I wanted, but I can't wait to see what comes out of the auction, anyway!

(And don't forget to check your bids periodically, if there's something you really want; the notification emails aren't always reliable, so make sure you double check that you're still the highest bidder.)

I have TV thoughts, but they might have to wait for another post - I'm reserving judgement on Heroes, at least, until I've seen this week's episode.

From [livejournal.com profile] starxd_sparrow, who gave me Karl Agathon, Peter Petrelli, and Don Lamb (slightly spoilery for their respective shows):

I posted four fics in February, in four fandoms; two I'd written in before (Battlestar Galactica, Veronica Mars), one I'd only written as part of a crossover (Gossip Girl), and one completely new fandom (Legend Of The Seeker).

Mutiny, I Promise You (Battlestar Galactica - Lee/Racetrack - R - 1653 words) Galactica's lack of privacy wasn't exactly news to Maggie. Spoilers up to episode 2:4 - Resistance.

Elevator Love Letter (Gossip Girl - Jack/Blair - NC-17 - 1335 words) She's well bred, cultured, and she has a good education. It's not that hard. Spoilers up to episode 2:15 - Gone With The Will.

Destroy Everything You Touch (Legend Of The Seeker - Richard/Kahlan - R - 1522 words) This isn't just dangerous, it's potentially catastrophic. Spoilers up to episode 1:8 - Denna.

Down Again (Veronica Mars - Lamb/Veronica - PG-13 - 29,290 words) When one of her sorority sisters is killed, Veronica's second year at Hearst promises (threatens?) to be just as exciting as her first. Sequel to What Goes Down. AU from episode 3:2 - My Big Fat Greek Rush Week; potential spoilers up to the end of season three.

As for the next few months ... well, [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts is due in a few days, which is awesome. And after that, I've signed up for two Big Bangs: [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang (She's The Man, Olivia/Viola) and [livejournal.com profile] boxofmagic (Merlin, Arthur/Morgana). I know, crazy, right? But in my defense, the minimum word count for both challenges is only 15,000 words, which means I've signed up to write at least 30,000 words in three months. And since my fics posted this month add up to around 34,000 words ... I'm not really worried. I didn't take advantage of February to plot and ouline my [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang fic like I planned to, so I'll have to do that over the next few days, but I'm very excited. Yay, epic rom-coms!

[livejournal.com profile] boxofmagic, a Merlin Big Bang, has opened sign ups. And, damn it, I didn't think I was that involved in this fandom, but I really kind of want to sign up to write an epic, cracky, Arthur/Morgana modern AU. Or an Emma style matchmaker!Morgana AU, because that idea made its way into my head while I was writing Summer In The City, and it was so much fun. Help!

So far, this year's 'writing longer fics' resolution is going really well, which apparently translates into wanting to sign up for a bunch of Big Bangs. Like, I really wish there was one for Veronica Mars, and I'm trying very hard not to talk myself into creating one. And a Battlestar Galactica Big Bang would be awesome. Damn, damn, damn ...

The minimum word count for [livejournal.com profile] boxofmagic is only 15,000 words (35,000 words if you want guaranteed artwork), which makes it very tempting ... I'm going to resist. I'm mostly resisting. But there are quite a few sign ups for Arthur/Morgana already, which is awesome, and I'm looking forward to reading the fic that comes out of it. But I'm not going to sign up.

Probably.

This is for the latest challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] picspammy. And because I kind of have a thing for, like, really minor characters. Probably not dial-up friendly.

The Same Boy You've Always Known: A John Enbom picspam

09er. Heir to an airline fortune. Friend of Logan Echolls. Proponent of setting pools on fire. Obtainer of fake IDs. And by far my favourite obscure VM character.

I ended up writing three fics for [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis' Porn Battle VII, none of which fit into a single comment. Um, oops? But I did have a lot of fun, plus I got to practice writing smut. So, yay!

Elevator Love Letter (Gossip Girl - Jack/Blair - NC-17 - 1335 words) She's well bred, cultured, and she has a good education. It's not that hard. Spoilers up to episode 2:15 - Gone With The Will.

Picking Winners (Veronica Mars - Lamb/Veronica - NC-17 - 2576 words) Who wanted to be indoors studying when the alternative was spending an hour or two watching the fine men of the Balboa County Fire Department? Spoilers up to episode 2:13 - Ain't No Magic Mountain High Enough.

Try This Trick And Spin It (Veronica Mars - Lamb/Veronica - NC-17 - 3077 words) "Veronica Mars is smarter than me." Spoilers up to episode 3:12 - There's Got To Be A Morning After Pill.

Two days until J and I go up to Sydney for his brother's wedding, which is turning into a complete mess. Well, not the wedding part, but the getting up there part. His parents are (supposedly) organising everything, and ... well, let' just say it's a good thing they're not organising the actual wedding.
amathela: ([oth] brooke)
I'm actually very happy with my fic output this month - seven fics, and around 19,000 words, plus a whole bunch more that I'll hopefully get around to posting soon. I added one new fandom (Merlin), rediscovered an old fandom (Veronica Mars ♥), and wrote stuff in a couple of others (One Tree Hill, One Tree Hill RPF, Farscape RPF).

Summer In The City (Merlin - Arthur/Morgana - PG - 3173 words) In which there is a summer festival, Morgana indulges in a spot of matchmaking, and she and Arthur fight. A lot. Spoilers up to episode 1:8 - The Beginning Of The End.

This Cat Is A Landmine (One Tree Hill - Whitey - PG - 1513 words) Whitey gets a kitten. The Ravens find out. Hijinks ensue.

Nice To Meet You Anyway (Veronica Mars - Casey/Veronica - PG-13 - 2462 words) Trust doesn't come that easily. Spoilers up to episode 1:9 - Drinking The Kool-Aid.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Farscape RPF - Ben Browder/Claudia Black - R - 3500 words) It's a good thing, he thinks, that John is supposed to be in love with Aeryn, or people might start asking questions. (aka. Five outfits Ben and Claudia wear, in varying degrees of ridiculousness.)

Method Acting (Decipher Reflections From Reality) (One Tree Hill RPF - James Lafferty/Bethany Joy Galeotti - PG - 2694 words) Her life is measured out in almosts. (She almost took a risk, once, but it was only fiction.) Five times fiction and reality were almost the same thing.
