Unpopular pairings (or, Come play with me!)
We all have them, right? Those pairings we love, or maybe are just a little interested in, but which - for whatever reason - simply aren't popular. Maybe it interferes with a fandom's OTP, maybe it features one or more minor characters, maybe it's a het pairing in a primarily slash fandom (or vice versa). Maybe it's completely cracktastic - the two characters have never actually met in fandom, or there's no good reason to ship them other than just because. Or maybe the pairing is actually canon, but is pretty much loathed (or simply ignored) by fandom in general. And sometimes you just wish someone would come along and say, "Hey, I can write that for you!"
Well, why don't we give it a shot? Comment here with any or all of your favourite unpopular pairings, in any fandom you like, and see if maybe there's somebody out there who will write it. Check out other peoples' wish lists, and if there's a fandom you're familiar with, and a pairing you're not completely opposed to, have a go at it. It can be comment!fic, a snippet, whatever - but come give it a shot, try something new, and help spread the love of unconventional pairings.

Farscape
Velorek/Aeryn, Larraq/Aeryn. Yes, they were one-off characters, but they both had interesting chemistry with Aeryn. Plus, Velorek was played by Alex Dimitriades - what's not to love?
Firefly
Simon/Inara. Why not? They're both cultured, well-educated, and impossibly pretty.
Gilmore Girls
Finn/Lorelai. Yeah, cracktastic, but it's fun, and come on - he's Australian, he drinks a lot ... there's got to be something you can do with that.
Also, I should probably give a special shout out to Chris/Lorelai, which, despite being totally canon, gets almost no love.
Grey's Anatomy
Derek/Izzie. Yes, it's completely improbable. No, I don't much care.
One Tree Hill
Chris/Haley. I know, okay? And I'm as much a fan of Nathan/Haley as anyone, but I can't be the only person who really liked Chris/Haley. Okay, maybe I can. But still.
Also, Lucas/Haley. Yes, like that. I have no idea. At first, the very idea was abhorrent to me, but once I was reassured that the show wasn't going to go there, and they actually started playing with it ... it's funny, is all I'm saying. Plus, Jamie does look an awful lot like Lucas ;)
Roswell
Michael/Isabel. Pseudo-incestuous alien arranged marriage past life OTP FTW!
Sports Night
Dan/Kim. He gives her shoulder massages! And she's not his secretary! And he thinks they should sleep together! There's got to be a way to work with that ;)
Stargate SG-1
Barrett/Sam. Because she should say yes, at least once (and because he was totally adorable when he covered her, then looked like he had absolutely no idea what to do next).
The West Wing
Cliff/Donna. I know he's painted pretty much unilaterally as a jackass in fandom, but I think that's (mostly) unfair. Also, they were cute together.
Sam/Donna. Because they're so very pretty, and it kinda totally works.
Sam/Ginger. Ginger has got to be my number one minor character love, and in my imagination, she's totally gay, except when she's with Sam. And she's very cute with Sam. (She likes moose! Or at least, she's willing to pretend.) Also, it's not like nobody's writing boss/assistant fic in this fandom, right? ;)
Veronica Mars
Casey/Veronica, Dick/Veronica, Vinnie/Veronica. We all know she likes the 09er jackasses (and sleazy pseudo-law enforcement types). Maybe.
Wonderfalls
Aaron/Jaye. Come on, you should know me by now.

She likes to go into the medical bay, sometimes, when there's no real sick that need tending but the good doctor's there in any case, setting out supplies or just adjusting what he's already got - instruments always neatly aligned, creating an order and reason out of pills and bottles and shots. He doesn't need to do it, not really, because soon as someone really does get hurt the whole place is turned upside down with Simon's haste and the crew's anxious, meddling fear. But when there's nothing to do save worry after his sister, Inara sees him come down here, rolling up bandages with quick and capable hands. All in all, then, she's not that surprised the first time she catches herself wondering what those surgeon's hands would feel like on hers.
River's been appropriated by Mal for a while, and Inara can tell Simon doesn't know what to do with himself - that's the most likely explanation for why he's ended up in her shuttle, at least.
"I'm sorry," he mutters, "I don't want to intrude."
"Not at all." She smiles. "You shouldn't worry about River, the captain will look after her."
"Oh yes, I can't think of anyone more suited to looking after my psychotic baby sister," he replies with a humorless laugh, then sighs. "No, that's not what I-- she'll be fine, I know."
He sits stiffly on the edge of her bed, hands twining together with restless energy. Inara sits next to him, pushing her hair over one shoulder and laying a hand over his. "Is everything all right, Simon?"
He looks up at her, and she's struck by the vulnerability in his eyes, something she's yet to see.
"I'm not sure I know what that means any more," he says. His fingers start playing along the lines of her wrist, and her breath catches - something that hasn't happened in a long time now. "Inara..."
There's apology and hesitancy in his tone, and she reaches out and brushes her fingertips against his parted lips.
"I-- I don't mean to, I don't want you to think that--"
"Hush," she tells him gently as she draws him close and closer still, until his mouth finds her and he finally breathes, soft and sweet against her skin, as one slender hand reaches up to rest at the nape of her neck, feeling just as Inara knew it would.

Kaylee/Wash. They are adorable together, pretty free of all that space angst, and in any case, if he were unwed he would take her in a manly fashion.
Stargate: Atlantis
Keller/Carter. Just because it's pretty, and they're slight outsiders together and whatnot.
