I enjoy het, femslash, and gen. I love ensemble fics, banter, makeouts, unresolved (and resolved) sexual tension, romantic comedy, action/adventure, wacky hijinks, humour, crack, PWPs, apocafic, and ridiculous AUs. In general, I'm not super into angst, and I prefer fics where characters interact with people and do things over introspective character studies. I really, really, love tropes and clichés, and totally ridiculous, over the top plots, the more shameless the better - if you're ever wondering, does she want fic with pretending to be a couple/forced proximity/sharing a bed/bachelor auction/truth or dare/accidental makeouts/insert ridiculous cliché here, the answer is yes, yes I do. I love first times, and secret relationships, and casual hookups, and ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and rekindling old relationships. I love people being in love without having to say it, and people who are obviously in love but maybe don't realise it, and ridiculously overblown romantic gestures where one person completely embarrasses themselves, and small gestures that mean a whole lot more than they seem to. Most of all, I love characters who are genuinely really into each other - as friends, or as more than that. I'm happy to read any rating, and smut is welcome but absolutely not necessary.

I just watched Green Lantern: The Animated Series episode six (I know, I'm ridiculously behind), and ( spoilers )

GOD EVERY YEAR I THINK I READ A LOT OF COMICS AND THEN THE NEXT YEAR I'M LIKE, NOPE, THAT WAS NOT A LOT. Last year I read over 1,000 comics, and I was like, fuck that's a lot of comics, except now I've already read >500 less than two months into 2013, I SWEAR I OCCASIONALLY DO THINGS OTHER THAN READ COMICS JUST IDK WHAT THEY ARE? I seem to be making up for reading almost no Marvel last year by reading ALL MARVEL ALL THE TIME right now, and okay, guys, I love Peter Parker. YOU WIN, ENTIRE UNIVERSE.

Comics Are Awesome, Comics Are Awful, Part #316:

- Batgirl: Year One is coming back into print! Robin: Year One and Batgirl: Year One are being collected together and rereleased in June, which is excellent, because the only copies I can find of the latter right now would set me back way upwards of $50, which is not happening. Waiting until June, however, is totally doable. Now if only DC would (re)release any of the other dozens of titles I'm missing, that would be super.

- The solicitation for Hawkeye #11 is giving me the warm and fuzzies. Aw, Pizza Dog <3

- ... and then there's the new Injustice: Gods Among Us prequel comic (discussion of torture and abuse), which has so many shades of Do Not Want I don't even know where to start. Not only will I not be checking out that comic after all, I won't be touching the game with a ten foot pole.

This was my main assignment, and I was super excited to get it; I really, really felt like writing some Mindy Project fic for yuletide, and had already bookmarked the request for a potential treat, so it worked out perfectly. (Also, the recipient was my yuletide author last year, who wrote me BJ/Mindy, so that was a nice bit of symmetry.) The Mindy Project really lends itself to an abundance of rom-com tropes, which was reflected in a lot of the requests and fics written this year; I had a pretty sizeable shortlist of ones I was dying to write, but I decided to go with 'pretending to be friends', which I'd wanted to write ever since the episode where they lied about being BFF, and which I thought was a really fun twist on the pretend dating trope. And I think it went pretty well? I mean, it's basically 5000 words of banter followed by makeouts, so.

This was definitely my most productive yuletide, which I blame on having written almost nothing the entire rest of the year. Also, if 2009 was my Disney yuletide, 2012 was definitely my comics, yay! yuletide, which was fitting, given that's what took up a lot of my fannish attention last year.

Also, ladymercury_10 totally guessed that I wrote The Thrill Can Kill, so, I owe you something fannish! Leave me a prompt/request and I'll try to make you something cool ;)

OMG YOU GUYS YOU GUYS YOU GUYS, YULETIDE IS LIVE AND I HAVE PRESENTS! TWO PRESENTS! I kept checking and checking and I was sure I wouldn't get any treats this year but I did, while I was out for Christmas lunch somebody uploaded a second gift for me (and I don't present shake so IDK which was which, I don't care), and they're both so amazing!!!!!

(P.S. It's already Christmas here and I've been to a really really long family lunch with a really really lot of booze, so I am maybe quite a bit drunk right now, sorry! BUT I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT YULETIDE, I CAME HOME AND IT WAS JUST THERE.)


New Leaf (Wizards of Waverly Place, Alex & Justin) Alex kind of breaks the WizTech library. Justin kind of fixes it. The pirate definitely complicates matters.

JUSTIN AND ALEX AND WACKY MAGICAL HIJINKS, SO GREAT! There is pretty much nothing I don't love about this. God, I miss this show.


The Story So Far (10 Years Later) (Batgirl, Dick/Steph) The batfamily is really hard to keep track of. And ten years after Stephanie Brown becomes Batgirl it's even MORE complicated. Good thing there's still someone around to draw pictures and tell the story ...

OKAY, SO: REMEMBER WHEN THAT ONE BATGIRL COMIC HAD THE STORY OF THE BATFAMILY AS TOLD BY STEPH, AND IT WAS PRETTY MUCH THE GREATEST THING EVER? THIS IS BASICALLY THAT, BUT WITH BONUS DICK/STEPH, UGH, I AM TOTALLY FLIPPING OVER THIS STORY RIGHT NOW.


So, basically, if those are things you enjoy, you should totally read these fics? I really cannot rave about them enough, they've both totally made my day. MY YULETIDE SO FAR IS THE BEST, I AM SO HAPPY. ALSO I GOT A BASIL PLANT FOR CHRISTMAS SO I CAN FINALLY START MY OWN TINY HERB GARDEN I ALWAYS WANTED, SO WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT TODAY?
