OH MY GOD YOU GUYS I GOT FOUR YULETIDE FICS. FOUR. It's kind of hilarious, because last year I wrote, like, eight fics, and then this year I wrote my assignment and a pinch hit and no treats at all (though I am writing something that might go in the madness collection if I can finish it in time I HOPE SO BECAUSE THERE'S A BIT THAT'S KIND OF YULETIDE SPECIFIC - in an already super dated way - but oh well, I'll just NYR it if not), and this is the year I get ALL THE FIC.

But I'm so not complaining because SOMEBODY WROTE ME AVALON HIGH FIC AGAIN. It's the second Avalon High fic I've gotten in exchanges this year, which means there are now approximately 200% more Avalon High fics in the universe than there were last year. (When I went looking on AO3 for fic, IIRC there was exactly one non-crossover fic and it didn't even have Allie in it, WHAT IS EVEN UP WITH THAT.) Chances of me continuing to request it in every exchange ever in the hopes of building an actual fandom: Super high.

Also! Somebody wrote me the Bruce/Steph dirtybadwrong fic I've been requesting only roughly forever and it's SO GREAT I CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU. And then I also got a super fun Dick/Steph fic AND and adorable Steph & Cass fic, WHAT DID I EVEN DO TO DESERVE THIS BECAUSE I WILL DO IT AGAIN.

I'm not super into angst, and I prefer fics where characters interact with people and do things over introspective character studies. I really, really, love tropes and clichés, and totally ridiculous, over the top plots, the more shameless the better. I love first times, and secret relationships, and casual hookups, and partners, and ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and rekindling old relationships. I love people being in love without having to say it, and people who are obviously in love but maybe don't realise it, and ridiculously overblown romantic gestures where one person completely embarrasses themselves, and small gestures that mean a whole lot more than they seem to. I love banter, unresolved (and resolved) sexual tension, romantic comedy, awesome plots, action/adventure, wacky hijinks, humour, crack, PWPs, apocafic, and ridiculous AUs. In general, I'm not super into angst. I really, really, love tropes and clichés, which I know is unhelpfully vague, but: If you're ever wondering, does she want fic with pretending to be a couple/forced proximity/sharing a bed/bachelor auction/truth or dare/accidental makeouts/insert ridiculous cliché here, the answer is yes, yes I do. I love first times, and secret relationships, and casual hookups, and ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and rekindling old relationships. I love people being in love without having to say it; and people who are obviously in love but maybe don't realise it; and ridiculously overblown romantic gestures where one person completely embarrasses themselves, because that's kind of the point of the grand gesture; and tiny, unnoticeable gestures that mean a whole lot more than they seem to. The stuff I don't love pretty much boils down to making the characters I love unhappy for no good reason. And character bashing, even of characters I don't like. I'm happy to read any rating, and smut is welcome but absolutely not necessary.

Still can't write anything, ugh. So in a total surprise move for me, I've been watching a bunch of DCOMs. (I know, right? You're all so shocked.)

First I watched ( Big Time Movie )

Although, seriously, do not try metaphasia's drinking game (drink every time someone says "world") unless maybe you're drinking beer or wine or cider, basically it's totally deadly especially if you play all your drinking games with cocktails. (That makes them classy drinking games.)

And then I watched Geek Charming, which actually was totally charming, ie. better than most DCOMs and pretty much every adult rom-com I've seen recently. THEY TOTALLY BECOME FRIENDS FIRST, IT'S PRETTY GREAT.

Last I watched Lemonade Mouth, seriously, how did it take me so long to see this? Because it was my favourite DCOM in a long, long time. (Like, not more favourite than Avalon High, because that is my very favourite ever, or Princess Protection Program, because that's basically just Demi and Selena: The Love Story which makes it super amazing for always, but maybe my favourite after that.) ( Because of reasons )

I still need to rewatch Princess Protection Program and then write ALL THE THINGS, this is going to happen.

Ugh, this is all cashewdani's fault. And a little bit pirateygoodness's fault. YOU CAN'T JUST COME IN AND START TALKING ABOUT DISNEY FANDOM AGAIN LIKE IT'S NBD, I'm not even sure I ever managed to leave the fandom in the first place (IT'S STILL MY MOOD THEME, FOREVER FAVOURITE) AND YOU KNOW HOW IT MAKES ME FEEL THINGS.

Like: I just rewatched the Wizards of Waverly Place movie and it gave me a super embarrassing number of feelings. No, wait, ~FEELINGS. Especially since the show ended(!) and the competition happened for real(!!!!), even though I don't actually know how that went because I still haven't watched the last three episodes, ugh, I just am not ready for it to be over (see above re: not actually having left the fandom - there may not be much of it left any more, but I'll always have my campfire scene to keep me warm).

It's like the perfect storm of things I love, basically SELENA GOMEZ + BIG TIME RUSH + SUPER RIDICULOUSNESS = I can't even hate it on account of Justin Bieber, whatever, I guess I have made peace with Selena's terrible boyfriend choices. (Also, I totally did not notice until now that that video was actually posted by Carlos Pena, ugh, why do I love them and their stupid-ass faces so much. Also, desire to write a WOWP/BTR crossover: rising.)

Protip: If you ever play the Princess Protection Program drinking game (basically, drink every time someone says 'princess,'), and you're tempted to add more rules to it - don't. Especially if you've already been playing for a few hours. And you're drinking cocktails.

In other words, I am hungover as fuck. But my new year's eve was super fun - instead of going out, which always sucks, we stayed in and played DCOM-ish drinking games. Basically, Princess Protection Program will kill you, Starstruck is terrible at everything even when you're drunk, and Big Time Rush is even more super fun when you're playing drinking game bingo.
