Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] torigates! I hope you have a fantastic day :D

So apparently Manu Bennett was promoted to series regular for season two of Arrow? Which, apart from being exciting news in itself, MAYBE MEANS MORE CHANCE OF SEEING ROSE EVENTUALLY?????????? I LIVE IN HOPE.

And a meme that's been floating around:

How many (and which) ships have you shipped from the time you started watching a show until the show ended and you still continue to ship? Two rules:

1. Must be a show you watched at least part of as it was airing on tv (because catching up on a show in three weeks is different from watching it live over a span of years).
Or have been watching it for a good amount of time, whatever, I can't necessarily remember what shows I actually saw live and what I didn't after a few years, THIS MEME IS NOT THE BOSS OF ME.

2. The show has to be over with (i.e. no current airing shows count because you don't know which ships crash and burn or get together in the last few episodes and that might affect your shipping).

This was ... actually fewer than I expected? But still a lot, because I watch a lot of television.

Justin/Alex (Wizards of Waverly Place), Helo/Athena (Battlestar Galactica), John/Teyla (Stargate Atlantis), John/Aeryn (Farscape), Ted/Veronica (Better Off Ted), Michael/Lindsay (Arrested Development), Richard/Kahlan/Cara (Legend of the Seeker), Buffy/Faith (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Lamb/Veronica (Veronica Mars), Peter/Claire (Heroes), Clark/Lois (Smallville), Nathan/Haley (One Tree Hill), Beck/Jade (Victorious), Sasha/Payson (Make It or Break It), Ryan/Kelly (The Office) ... probably others I'm forgetting, whatever.

Some of those I still care about more than others; others, obviously, weren't right from the beginning of the show, but I think "from the time the characters were introduced" counts. And Ryan/Kelly only very nearly qualifies, but whatever, the show is almost over and they're only going to be on one more episode, I very much doubt whatever happens then will make me stop shipping it when several seasons of barely there-ness and the characters generally being kind of terrible people didn't. (And sadly I couldn't include Ryan/Taylor, because I only started shipping them in season four like everybody else with a soul, but I still ship them a lot, so they're there in spirit.)

SO THE RAVAGERS WAS CANCELLED, UGH. And, I mean, it's not like I'm saying that was a great comic? BUT ROSE WAS IN IT AND IT WAS CALLED THE RAVAGERS AND WHERE AM I GOING TO GET ROSE NOW????? DAMN IT, DC. YOU ARE THE WORST.

Anyway, onto talking about tiny pretty pictures. [livejournal.com profile] empressearwig, [livejournal.com profile] catteo, and [livejournal.com profile] crackers4jenn gave me icons to talk about! If you want me to pick some of yours, let me know.

Yuletide reveals are up! I'll be posting my fics here over the next week or so, but in the meantime: I wrote my main assignment, a pinch hit, and six treats, for The Mindy Project, Doom, Arrow, Batgirl (x2), Nightwing, The Non-Adventures of Wonderella, and Super Best Friends Forever.

If We Don't Make It We'll Fake It (6160 words) by amathela
Fandom: Mindy Project
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Relationships: Danny Castellano/Mindy Lahiri
Characters: Mindy Lahiri, Danny Castellano, Jeremy Reed, Marc Shulman, Morgan Tookers, Betsy Putch
Summary: They can pretend to be friends. It can't possibly be that hard. Right?

This was my main assignment, and I was super excited to get it; I really, really felt like writing some Mindy Project fic for yuletide, and had already bookmarked the request for a potential treat, so it worked out perfectly. (Also, the recipient was my yuletide author last year, who wrote me BJ/Mindy, so that was a nice bit of symmetry.) The Mindy Project really lends itself to an abundance of rom-com tropes, which was reflected in a lot of the requests and fics written this year; I had a pretty sizeable shortlist of ones I was dying to write, but I decided to go with 'pretending to be friends', which I'd wanted to write ever since the episode where they lied about being BFF, and which I thought was a really fun twist on the pretend dating trope. And I think it went pretty well? I mean, it's basically 5000 words of banter followed by makeouts, so.

The rest of the fics )

This was definitely my most productive yuletide, which I blame on having written almost nothing the entire rest of the year. Also, if 2009 was my Disney yuletide, 2012 was definitely my comics, yay! yuletide, which was fitting, given that's what took up a lot of my fannish attention last year.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] ladymercury_10 totally guessed that I wrote The Thrill Can Kill, so, I owe you something fannish! Leave me a prompt/request and I'll try to make you something cool ;)
