... I actually wrote enough last month to do one of these. Which has not happened since January, oops. I wrote four fics in four different fandoms, and almost all of them were new to me (except Greek, in which I'd only written a drabble); about 18,000 words all up.

It's Not Like The Greeks Invented The Marathon (Evan/Casey - PG-13 - 5604 words) The ZBZs are forced to team up with Kappa Tau for an upcoming Greek event. Nobody is particularly happy about it. (Well, except Cappie, maybe.)

Might As Well Make It Bleed (Marshall/Mary - NC-17 - 1065 words) Marshall tries to talk Mary down. She has other ideas. Spoilers up to episode 2:1 - Gilted Lily.

Interpersonal Hygiene (Charlie/Dani - R - 1862 words) Five times Charlie and Dani showered together (sort of).

The Greatest Adventure In The History Of Basic Cable (Cain/DG - PG-13 - 9080 words) Sometimes adventures have a way of finding themselves.

Also, because I missed doing these, a (sadly) brief roundup of my fics written in February - June:

They Shoot Cylons, Don't They? (The Forgiveness & Stuff Remix) (Lee, Boomer - PG-13 - 885 words) He doesn't expect to see one of the toasters helping them, and he doesn't recognise her; he learned to block out her face, the particular way she smiled, long ago. A remix of Forgiveness by [personal profile] sabaceanbabe. Written for [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix. Spoilers up to episode 2:20 - Lay Down Your Burdens (Part Two); slightly AU for season three.

The Déjà Fait Fate Destabilizer (Wendy - PG - 1235 words) Press the button, go back in time, save the world. Easy?

Never Kill A Boy On The First Date (Justin/Alex - PG-13 - 23,208 words) In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer. In this case, she's Alex Russo - one girl in all the world born with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of their evil, blah blah blah. She also might be kind of falling in love with her brother. But first, she has an apocalypse to avert. Spoilers up to episode 3:5 - Night At The Lazerama.

That's a bit sad, whatever. In other news, I'm back at school, and it's ... okay? I have art this semester, so that's kind of fun. And my schedule does not suck. So, I'll probably actually be able to finish my [community profile] femslash10 assignment, yay. And possibly write other stuff. I'm setting small goals ;)

Guess who got her first semester results today? Or, well, most of them - in a completely unsurprising turn of events, our math lecturer has not fulfilled her basic job requirements and submitted our results, so they're not up yet. But! I did pretty well in my other subjects - surprisingly well in some of them, I must have done better on my final assessments than I expected - so I'm happy. And math can bite me.

(Also, I feel like I can relax a little now that I know I'm doing well - not slack off, but, well, I'd really like not to disappear from fandom for an entire semester again, so.)

ALSO, DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MISSED? WRITING! I have made actual, significant progress on my [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic, and, apparently I am writing Tin Man fic now too? Roughly a metric ton of it so far, including a big dumb space AU (yay!); I have no idea where it came from, but I'm okay with that. Because writing is fun! Somehow I forgot this.

So, I still need to get started on my [community profile] femslash10 assignment, but I'm looking forward to that, so it should be easy enough. Also, I'm trying not to guilt myself too badly about the [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic, even though I do feel terrible about it, because I know if I don't let myself write anything else until it's finished, all that's going to happen is that it's going to sit there mocking me and nothing will get written at all. Right now, instead, I'm using as self-bribery fodder, and that's working pretty well. Sometimes I have to trick myself into getting stuff done, whatever.

My first term as a grad student is over! Which means I'm officially on holidays - at least for the next week and a half. \0/

So, what did I miss? It feels like I haven't been properly connected to fandom in forever, I've missed you guys. I have a massive backlog of fics, and I'm ridiculously behind on my TV watching - apparently the Greek season finale was on yesterday? I've only seen up to episode 13, so clearly this needs to be fixed ASAP.

In more exciting news, I finished my first ever big bang, yay! I wrote Never Kill A Boy On The First Date (Wizards of Waverly Place, Justin/Alex) for [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang, and I got three fantastic pieces of art for it - If The Apocalypse Comes ... (I'm Feeling Pretty Psyched) (fanmix) by [livejournal.com profile] tortugax, an untitled fanmix by [personal profile] roseclaw, and some amazing graphics by [livejournal.com profile] dhfreak. I am completely overwhelmed by their collective awesomeness. <3

Now, I have to go look at my to-do list ... which is like a mile and a half long, eek! I know I have gift fics to finish, my [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix, and maybe [livejournal.com profile] chaos_thon, but I'm honestly not sure if I'll be able to finish that in time. And a couple of assessments that are due the first week back, and homework I'm not fully caught up on, and resource folios, and reflections ...

Fic is coming first, I think ;)
amathela: ([b&s] maybe it won't end)
Wow, it feels like forever since I've properly updated. In case you're wondering why, it's for the same reason as always - I tripped over a new fandom. In this case, it's Brothers and Sisters, and, yeah. It's an angsty family melodrama, which really isn't my usual type of show, and yet ... I don't know, it's strangely addictive.

And, okay, it has Justin/Rebecca, which is the real reason I started watching. Don't act like you're surprised.

Briefly, in non-fannish news, technology apparently hates me. First, my desktop computer totally died, and it took us forever to find out what the problem was. It turned out to be the video card, which kind of sucks, because J was looking forward to me (eventually) getting a new computer so he could snag my video card and get rid of his old crappy one. Luckily, I only really use that computer for gaming, and we've put his video card in my computer so I can still do that, but it's a temporary fix.

And then, because apparently I wasn't done, I was ... erm, maybe fiddling with some files on my laptop, and I managed to erase the entire contents of my iTunes. I still have all my music, luckily, but everything else - all my playlists, including my list of potential vid songs, some awesome fanmixes (from other people), and a couple of fanmixes in progress (mine) - is totally gone. Sigh. I figure as long as nothing blows up in the next couple of days, I'm probably safe from further meltdowns.

More happily, today I submitted my postgrad uni application. I'm not sure when I'll find out whether I got in - I applied for mid-year entry, which means there might be limited places available - but I'm nervous and really hopeful right now.

Fannishly: [profile] remixthedrabble is opening sign ups for its next round soon. I'm a huge fan of the challenge (and, okay, a co-mod), and it's a lot of fun; this round is going to be a drabble purist round, which means all remixes must be 100 words exactly. Which is a really awesome challenge, plus it means that, unlike other challenges, it's a relatively small time investment. So, go check out the community, and please think about signing up when the challenge goes live!

And Brothers and Sisters, because I am still capable of making TV reaction posts, I swear: spoilery for the latest episode )

I really might have to write that Kevin/Julia(/Scotty) thing. Except for the fact that I have a million fic obligations right now and absolutely no time. And two big bangs due in roughly a month or so, which ... I won't lie. If we can keep this just between us, dear flist and assorted lurkers, they are not nearly as far progressed as they should be. At all. So the next month is either going to be very busy, or suddenly free right up, depending on whether or not I think I can actually finish them. Like, I don't doubt that I could finish them, I'm just not particularly invested in either of them right now as much as I need to be in order to do that. I might have to put them on hold? But then I'd feel majorly guilty about signing up and not delivering.

Since I decided to write Brothers and Sisters for [community profile] femgenficathon, though, that seems to be going swimmingly. At least something is.
