Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] kindness_says and [livejournal.com profile] pirateygoodness!

True story: I sometimes forget that not everything is a phone. Pretty regularly, I'll be looking for something (most recently my earmuffs) and think, "I know, I'll just call it." And that seems like a really good idea until I remember that you can't actually call something if it's not a phone.

Basically what I'm saying is, why isn't everything a phone? I'M COLD AND I JUST WANT MY EARMUFFS OKAY.

Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] crackers4jenn, [livejournal.com profile] surreallis, and [livejournal.com profile] rosa_acicularis! I hope you all have an amazing day <3

Also, I thinking about changing my rarewomen requests again? I KNOW, OKAY. Partly because nobody is offering Miss Match, which, duh, MY POOR TINY FANDOM OF ONE, and also partly because I could ask for Wizards of Waverly Place and/or Victorious? IT'S SO HARD MAKING DECISIONS.

UGH IT'S SO HOT HERE AND I HAVE TO WORK AND KIDS ARE BEING TERRIBLE THIS YEAR AND I WAS IN A CAR CRASH ON THE WEEKEND (I'M OKAY THOUGH) AND MY HOUSE IS A MESS AND I HAVEN'T WRITTEN ANYTHING IN FOREVER, CAN I GET A DO OVER ON THE PAST TWO WEEKS PLEASE.

WAIT DO OTHER COUNTRIES NOT HAVE FAIRY BREAD? SERIOUSLY IF YOU HAVE NOT GROWN UP WITH THIS AMAZINGNESS IDEK WHAT TO SAY TO YOU, HOW HAVE YOU EVEN LIVED. (Things I love about being a teacher #27: I have eaten fairy bread recently.)

In other news, I went to work and then ran errands on my way home AND still went to the gym before dinner, I would like my Adult Human achievement badge now kthxbai.

Also am celebrating Valentine's Day by buying comics and watching D.E.B.S. and Princess Protection Program and drinking, like, a lot, it is super amazing.

Oh my god you guys I should be writing yuletide treats but instead I am having way too much fun reading "nice guys" of okcupid, send help.
amathela: ([oc] seth/summer)
Today, I wrote two pinch hits, and started in on a Yuletide treat. I choose to think of this as being really, really excited, rather than out of my mind.

Also, it is now - for me, at least - less than twenty-fours hours until Christmas. (And a little more than thirty-six hours until the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide archive opens, if all goes well - I'm pretty sure I'm equally excited for both.) And ... I have a tree, and it is decorated, and I have presents, and they are wrapped and under the tree, and we have alcohol and food and ... more alcohol, I feel as if I'm actually ready for this holiday.

In case I don't get a chance to say it tomorrow (or, well, officially tomorrow, since it's after midnight), happy holidays of your choice to my friends list, I hope you have an awesome December, and I really love you guys ♥ ♥

Up until now, I've posted all my fics to [livejournal.com profile] amidalashari, and kept this journal solely for personal/fandom posts. This was mostly for organisation and tagging, and while it's helped in those areas, it's also been a little frustrating having to log in and out of my accounts in order to post fic/post journal entries/respond to comments, etc. So, from now on I've decided to keep everything in one place, at this journal.

All the fics I've already posted will stay at [livejournal.com profile] amidalashari; I haven't decided whether I'm going to bother backdating posts and moving everything over here, but that journal will stay up, whatever I end up doing.

I'm also thinking of changing my username, but that will have to wait for a little bit (mostly until I can afford it).

Turned on the TV tonight, and remembered why I never bother watching it any more. Channel Ten is currently airing The Office ... season three. At midnight on a Sunday. Before that, they also had an episode of The Daily Show - that already aired in New Zealand over a week ago.

So, we're really up to date, here.

Also, based on ads we saw while watching:

Channel Ten supports animals, children, beaches, Christmas, life, and Channel Ten.

Channel Ten is against alcohol, depression, diabetes, cancer, and AIDS.

Just in case, y'know, you weren't sure that life is good and cancer is bad. Well, now you do.

I just had a Watchtower guy knock on my door who looked exactly like Shia LaBeouf. If Shia LaBeouf were an evangelical Christian. It also probably would have been more exciting if I wasn't in my pyjamas, but, still.

Oh, and I'm home. Yay :D Plane travel was awful, New Zealand was freezing, but I had a lot of fun, and it was great to see my mum again. Still catching up on TV I missed, and, um, I may have been convinced to start watching Merlin. Not like I need any more shows to watch. (On my last plane home, a little girl in my row started singing Happy Birthday. And I swear, the first thing I though was, "you can't sing Happy Birthday on television" - thank you, Sports Night. And then I remembered, oh, yeah, real life. So it's entirely possible I watch too much TV.)
amathela: (heroes: dear uncle)
Note to self:

STOP WATCHING HEROES FANVIDS and finish your frakking 12 Days Of Teyla fic, which is due, like, now. Seriously. Write.

Okay?

... okay.
amathela: (wonderfalls: welcome)
Finished two out of three fic exchange stories. They aren't due until mid- to late December, so I'm feeling quite accomplished. I'll have to start on the last one, as well as my birthday gift fics, sometime later today/tomorrow. Also worry about paying rent, which is less fun. But I so rarely get things finished early (or even on time), so I'm really very happy right now.
amathela: (movies: clueless)
I'm feeling really misanthropic right now. Blah. I really shouldn't go on message boards, like, ever; in small doses, they're okay, but too much and I start to realise that I don't really like people. Add in that it's 5am, my sleeping patterns are whacked, I've basically eaten crap today, I still need to email my dad and buy plane tickets for next weekend I can't afford right now, and I've finished reading the book series I was really enjoying, and I feel ... ick. I was in a good mood earlier, too.

Oh, well. I think I might reread The Immortal Prince and The Gods Of Amyrantha, and I'd really like to write, but I have a feeling I might have to sleep first. In fact, sleep is usually a good solution to 90% of my groundless mood problems, but I still have to talk myself into it, because apparently I'm five.

OMG. Australian Gladiators is returning to TV. I kid you not. I freaking loved that show, and I am so watching when it comes back on! (Of course, I was thirteen at the time, so my taste may have been a little off.) Also, I totally forgot that Aaron Pederson used to host it - too bad he's (obviously) too good for us now.

I miss Wildside. But I'm still going to marry Alex Dimitriades some day.

Heartbreak High should be released on DVD.

Also, totally funny quote from the letters section of the TV Guide: "Sex is amoral and disgusting and should be saved for someone you love." Although, I think he meant immoral :P

ETA: I find it completely endearing that there's actual controversy over ABC's decision to move Play School from 3:30 to 3:00. Jay Laga'aia is apparently "incensed."
amathela: (vm: mercer)
Current obsession: music video mash-ups. They're hilarious, and very awesome.

Avril Lavigne vs The Ramones (Sedated Girlfriend)

UNK vs Avril Lavigne vs Toni Basil (Walkin' Out Yo Girlfriend)

Eminem vs The Cure (Friday I'm Superman)

The Police vs Snow Patrol (Every Car You Chase)

The Eurythmics vs The White Stripes (Sweet Dreams Are Made Of Seven Nation Army)

And an actual song that isn't really a mash-up, but is close (and I love it, so it gets included):

U2 & Green Day (The Saints Are Coming)

Also, I changed my layout. Not sure if I'm going to keep it yet, but I'll see. Credit goes to [livejournal.com profile] killcolor.

You know what I love about Australia? I love that we have a morning sound.

I'm not sure what kind of bird it is. I should know; my dad would know, if I asked him. I think I will, the next time I call him. But I know the sound they make, and I know they make it in the morning. That sound, when I get up early, is the "oh god, it's way too early to be awake" sound; when I stay up late, it's the "oh shit, I really should be getting to bed" sound. It always comes before dawn. (It's currently 5:30am, and late rather than early.)

I love that sound.

I love my country.

And etc.

I've been watching a lot of movies in the past couple of days, and I've come to two conclusions:

John Travolta is was seriously hot. Seriously, seriously hot. Fuck.

Resident Evil is an awesome movie. I put it on for one reason - Michelle Rodriguez, aka. the woman for whom I would gladly forsake all others (sorry, Jeremy). I had no idea it also starred James "fuck me now" Purefoy and Eric "Dean Hess" Mabius, but both were pleasant surprises. I love movies.

Today was either really good or really bad, and I can't tell which. The bad was that I was sick, and couldn't go home because we're woefully understaffed, nobody could come in to cover my shift, the place was a mess and we had a million things to do (a massive hailstorm meant that the store didn't open at all yesterday), and one of our big bosses is coming in at 9am tomorrow - and he's not happy with us. I finally got to go home 45 minutes before my shift would have ended anyway, which is kinda pathetic.

The good is that one of my friends came into the store (and bought shoes), and it was really great to be able to talk to him; and I got to park all day in the city for free.

So, yeah. I think I'll go watch some more videos (if only I had that one with James Purefoy and Piper Perabo ...)

Also, please guess my song meme. It's halfway done :D

Noooooooo!

Favourite superheroine + favourite fantasy/superhero writer/director/creator = ded. Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman would have rocked my fishnet stockings. Boo, you whore.

This new film of his had better be so fucking damn awesome.

According to [livejournal.com profile] rainbowdarling, [livejournal.com profile] talumin and I are her Hufflepuff OTP. I think this is very very awesome; I've never been someone's OTP before. I want fanfic and shipping wars, dammit!

EDIT: ...um, edited :P

Lacking anything more substantial to say (or perhaps just the concentration necessary to get too many words down in the right order; it's been a while since I've slept), I just thought I'd say that this is one of my favourite webcomic strips of all time. Not that I'm, y'know, biased or anything :P

I love Piper Perabo. Before a couple of months ago, the only thing I'd seen her in was Coyote Ugly, which I'll try to forget. But recently, I loved her in Imagine Me and You, and tonight I watched her in Perfect Opposites with Martin Henderson (who I also love; he's a Kiwi, but I'll claim him as one of ours), and loved her again. So now, I re-love her, and won't tolerate anything Jeremy has to say about her big mouth.
