Welcome, new friends! My flist has been super lively lately and I'm still adjusting, so there were a lot of posts in the past few days I didn't get around to commenting on. But I'm super glad to have met so many new people, so, in that spirit:

Fandom Tennis Match Meme!

Okay, here's how this is going to work. You comment with a fandom question. I answer it and then ask you a question that has some thematic relevance to the question you asked me.

Damn. For some reason, I was convinced that the porn battle didn't end for another few days - oops! Well, I'll be writing Cara/Kahlan fic anyway, just not for that.

My apocabigbang fic is at 20,000 words, and the first draft is *thisclose* to being done. All that's left to write is the big final battle scene; I'm hoping I can finish it off tomorrow, otherwise I'll just have to send the draft off with notes like "insert cool fight sequence here," and "this part is in the cafeteria."

I really want to participate in halfamoon, since it's an awesome community, but I'm not sure if I'll have time. Still - if you give me the name of a female character(s) in any fandom you know I'm familiar with (and some kind of prompt), I'll try to write at least a drabble. Femslash and female friendships also welcome :D

Okay, so apparently this is the time of year where I disappear for long stretches at a time. More of that will probably be happening, at least until I finish my holiday exchange fics (and birthday fic for dollsome, which is coming, too!), so here's a mish-mash update.

1. It was my birthday, yay! Thank you so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday, and to everyone who sent me a v-gift - you guys are so awesome! I meant to take advantage of the free snowflake cookie thing, but missed out - just know I love you guys, anyway. (And especially boonies, prozacpark, sol_se, mfirefly10, rogueslayer452, amory_vain, denyce, and frolicndetour ♥)

I celebrated by watching crappy movies (the first three Bring It On films, which get exponentially worse as the series progresses - I do love the first one, though), drinking crappy sparkling wine, and having pancakes for dinner. So, it was pretty awesome.


2. Ack, my paid account and userpics are expiring! Why am I so attached to these things? Must see if I can justify using potentially-arriving Christmas money to pay for a renewal.

I think I'm going to go with Alex the Vampire Slayer for my Wizards Of Waverly Place apocabigbang, mostly because that's what I have a solid idea for right now. Which is exciting, bcause I think it's going to be really fun.

Now, back to seeing whether I can finish To Wish Impossible Things before the end of the month. It's possible, right?

Finished another remix fic (yay!), which means I've written three out of five, including my primary assignment. I'm still planning on writing the other two, but at least I can relax about those. And so far I've written five fics for omgjustinalex, which. Is awesome? I mean, it's only been running for about ten days, so. (I'll still be writing more, probably, but also other non-kink meme stuff.)

I've (finally) started writing The Shake Up, which is also yay. I'm only about 500 words in so far, but I think it's coming along well.

Also, because I will probably keep pimping this: apocabigbang! RULES / ARTIST SIGN UPS / WRITER SIGN UPS. Sign ups run until November 3rd, final posting is in mid-March, artists can create art, graphics, vids, or fanmixes, and the minimum word count is only 10,000 words. It's open to any fandom, including RPF and crossovers, and the only requirement is that the fic somehow centre on an apocalypse.

(And, yes, I signed up to write two fics, I am officially insane.)

remixredux09 is open! I'm really looking forward to reading through the archive later, but in the meantime, I have to rec the remix that was written for me:

Past The Red Line (We Are All Ghosts Remix) (Battlestar Galactica/Firefly - Cally, Kaylee - PG-13) You like old planes. Spoilers for Serenity (movie) and through Season 2 of BSG.

Cally is one of those characters (unfortunately, not the only one) who I think was unfairly short-changed by fandom, and even more badly so by canon. She was never one of my favourite characters, but she did win an immeasurable amount of goodwill from me in Bastille Day, and that never really went away. (And besides, if I started hating female characters just because their storylines were badly handled in canon, I'd barely love anyone.)

But, this! This is such an awesome portrait of her, and I love it fiercely. Cally is awesome in it, as are all the Firefly crew. This is such a better story than she ever got in canon, and I love her more here than at any point in canon after Bastille Day. Seriously, if you like Cally at all - or even if you don't hate her - you should really, really read this.

Re: Strikethrough Boldthrough 2007 ... I really don't want to leave LiveJournal. I like it here. My journal is pretty. All my fiction is here. I love my LJ communities. I don't want to have to start all that again somewhere that isn't quite as good. But, if it comes to that, I'm Zhailei at InsaneJournal and GreatestJournal.
