Basically everything Marvel's doing right now is making me very, very excited. First they announced the new Ms Marvel title, in which the titular character is Kamala Khan, a Muslim teenager inspired by Captain Marvel to become a superhero. I love everything about that sentence. Carol Corps! More teenage girl superheroes who are heroes because they want to be, thank you very much. (Just keep Captain America away from her.)
And then they announced they'll be making four Netflix series focusing on Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Danny Rand, and Matt Murdock, followed by a Defenders miniseries. LUKE CAGE. JESSICA JONES!!!! <3 <3 A Jessica Jones series is basically my dream, pretty much second only to She Hulk: Single Female Lawyer. Which, can we make that happen now, please? I mean, if you really want David E. Kelley to make superhero shows, it makes a hell of a lot more sense than Wonder Woman.
Plus there are a bunch of new ongoing series I'm really looking forward to - She-Hulk! Black Widow! New Captain Marvel! FOUR FOR YOU, MARVEL. YOU GO, MARVEL.

Okay, I definitely signed up for too many holiday exchanges, but I'm coping.rarecharacters fics should be up any day now (they had some last-minute pinch hits, which I totally understand, since I'm pretty sure my writer and recipient both defaulted, but oh well. I really like the fic I wrote, anyway). Also, I've already started on my festivids assignment, which should hopefully come along without too many problems, so yay!
Now I just need to finish the million and one fics I've committed to, and I'll be all good ;)

General vid things I love: Ensemble vids. Character studies. Fun shippy vids. Vids that highlight some of my favourite things about the source. Vids that point out something I never noticed in the source. Vids that give me chills. Vids that make me cry. Vids that make me laugh. Vids that make me clap my hands in glee. Vids that use music I love, and music that's completely new to me, and music that obviously goes with that source, and that I never would have through to pair with the source but works surprisingly well. Basically, I just really love vids.

I finally got up to Midway in my rewatch of Stargate Atlantis, and I forgot how much the whole Ronon=Teal'c parallel bugged me. So I ended up doing this instead of paying attention? Oct. 10th, 2013 04:10 pmOMGWTF YULETIDE. But signups are open now, so hopefully we're through the worst of it. And Gwen Stacy I'm sorry, Clone Gwen Stacy made it in in the end, which I didn't actually expect to happen? So now I really want to request Ultimate Comics Spider-Man because I need ALL THE GWEN FIC, except I already have six requests and I love them all and don't want to drop them. Dilemmas! But at least this was the perfect time to be reading Maggie Fitzgerald and the Saltwater Drip, a fantastic Amazing Spider-Man fic where Gwen, not Peter, develops spidey superpowers, and that's exactly what I've been doing.
I've also been adding download links to the Miss Match fandom primer in the vague hopes that anybody anywhere will ever want to watch it. I don't even need yuletide ficsthat I've requested six years in a row! I'd settle for being able to squee about it with other people (*hint* you should totally go watch Miss Match it's adorable the links are right there). The first seven episodes are up so far, and I'm hoping to get the rest up before signups close.

So I ended up signing up forsga_santa, which - I haven't done in about five years? But I've been doing a Stargate semi-rewatch lately, so it's got me nostalgic. I'm also doing femslashex and yuletide, so that's manageable; rarecharacters fics aren't in for another few weeks but I've already made a decent start on mine, so yay.
Also, I guess Gotham is going to be a thing? Which basically means I'm going to spend the next few months rolling my eyes at idiots on tumblr enthusing about YAY GOTHAM CENTRAL RENEE MONTOYA OMG, because Gotham Central this is not. Unfortunately. And I'm really not sure the world needs another variation on Batman: Year One (this time with less Batman), plus it means ever actually getting a Gotham Central series is possibly even less likely than ever, but whatever. (Ed Brubaker would like people to stop congratulating him, though.)

I'm not super into angst, and I prefer fics where characters interact with people and do things over introspective character studies. I really, really, love tropes and clichés, and totally ridiculous, over the top plots, the more shameless the better. I love first times, and secret relationships, and casual hookups, and partners, and ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and rekindling old relationships. I love people being in love without having to say it, and people who are obviously in love but maybe don't realise it, and ridiculously overblown romantic gestures where one person completely embarrasses themselves, and small gestures that mean a whole lot more than they seem to. Most of all, I love characters who are genuinely really into each other. I'm happy to read any rating, and smut is welcome but absolutely not necessary, though I would prefer having the characters actually hook up in some way in the story (makeouts = <3).

I enjoy het, femslash, and gen. I love ensemble fics, banter, makeouts, unresolved (and resolved) sexual tension, romantic comedy, action/adventure, wacky hijinks, humour, crack, PWPs, apocafic, and ridiculous AUs. In general, I'm not super into angst, and I prefer fics where characters interact with people and do things over introspective character studies. I really, really, love tropes and clichés, and totally ridiculous, over the top plots, the more shameless the better - if you're ever wondering, does she want fic with pretending to be a couple/forced proximity/sharing a bed/bachelor auction/truth or dare/accidental makeouts/insert ridiculous cliché here, the answer is yes, yes I do. I love first times, and secret relationships, and casual hookups, and ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and rekindling old relationships. I love people being in love without having to say it, and people who are obviously in love but maybe don't realise it, and ridiculously overblown romantic gestures where one person completely embarrasses themselves, and small gestures that mean a whole lot more than they seem to. Most of all, I love characters who are genuinely really into each other - as friends, or as more than that. I'm happy to read any rating, and smut is welcome but absolutely not necessary.
