Another quick batch of recs from the [community profile] yuletide madness collection! Fandoms include Easy A, Parks & Recreation, Weeds, Chronicles of Riddick/Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Doctor Who RPF.

Bad Influence (Easy A, Olive/Marianne) "My, my, my, if it isn't Olive Penderghast," Marianne says slowly, like they're in some kind of dramatic reenactment of the political dispute that led to somebody's death.

Olive and Marianne meet again in college. Sacrilicious makeouts ensue.

The Single Worst Organization in the Entire World (Parks & Recreation) A very drunk Leslie Knope tries to explain to her friends why librarians shouldn't be allowed to have travel funds.

Because the library is evil, obviously. I think my favourite part of this is Ann's reaction.

In The Dead Of Night (Weeds, Andy/Nancy) One night in Nebraska.

A night on the road from Silas' point of view. I love everything about this fic ♥.

Just The Way He Likes It (Chronicles of Riddick/Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Riddick/Buffy) Riddick is still settling in to his position as Lord Marshal when they find her.

Not a crossover I ever would have thought of, but this fic makes it work - and with a pretty awesome pairing to boot.

we can't hide the way it makes us glow (Doctor Who RPF, Matt/Karen) Karen has actually lost track of where they are right now. She finds Matt sitting on the couch in the back lounge, and plops down next to him.

Comfortable and bantery and adorable. Love these two so much!

Festivids!

Dear festividder,

I am so, so excited about this, I can't even tell you - someone making a vid just for me? In a small fandom that I love? Count me in! I hope there's something in my requests that works for you - I tried to be as open as possible with my requests, while still hopefully giving you something to work with and some idea about what I like best about those fandoms. But, seriously, anything you make will be cherished and adored and rewatched until my computer breaks down, there is seriously no pressure here, just vid something you're excited by and I am sure to love it!

I don't really have any fandom-specific notes to add that weren't in my requests, but in general: I like all kinds of vids, from fun, happy vids to fast, action-y vids to dense, thinky vids, and everything in between. My musical tastes are pretty eclectic, and I love it when a song choice surprises me - as long as it fits the vid, I'll love pretty much anything. I do have a vid recs tag, if that's something you're at all interested in.

And for anybody who's curious about what I asked for:

Oh, and yes, I am more than okay with receiving treats!

I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts again this year, and I just got my assignment, which is awesome. After finishing a bunch of long fics all in a row, I think a low pressure fic gift basket is exactly what I need.

(And yes, for those waiting, I am working on the birthday fics I promised. I've just been a little distracted, oops.)

In case you're my [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts author, hello! I've written up a little bit about the fandoms I asked for and my favourite (Jewish and/or female) characters; in any of these fandoms, I'd love anything, of course, but this is just in case you're looking for a bit of extra direction :)

In general, I love fun stories; I'm not so much with the angst, but go for it if it's your thing. I love het and femslash as well as gen, and I really love female characters. Humour, crack, fluff, AU, banter, UST - I'll love pretty much anything, so just write whatever's fun for you!

More about my requests )

TV is back on! I haven't actually started watching it yet, but there's a new Legend of the Seeker I'm very excited about. And BSG comes back in a few days ...

All my holiday exchange fics have been finished and posted:

Summer In The City (Merlin - Arthur/Morgana - PG - 3173 words) In which there is a summer festival, Morgana indulges in a spot of matchmaking, and she and Arthur fight. A lot. Spoilers up to episode 1:8 - The Beginning Of The End. Written for [livejournal.com profile] breakingbeads for [livejournal.com profile] merlin_santa.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Farscape RPF - Ben Browder/Claudia Black - R - 3500 words) It's a good thing, he thinks, that John is supposed to be in love with Aeryn, or people might start asking questions. (aka. Five outfits Ben and Claudia wear, in varying degrees of ridiculousness.) Written for [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide.

Method Acting (Decipher Reflections From Reality) (One Tree Hill RPF - James Lafferty/Bethany Joy Galeotti - PG - 2694 words) Her life is measured out in almosts. (She almost took a risk, once, but it was only fiction.) Five times fiction and reality were almost the same thing. Written for [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie for [livejournal.com profile] prettylightsfic.

So, yes, I ended up writing for the same person for Yuletide and Pretty Lights. And I could have written Ben/Claudia for both exchanges, but the Pretty Lights assignment came pretty much as I was just starting to rewatch One Tree Hill, so I decided to go for a little diversity instead. The Pretty Lights story ended up not being quite what I intended (it was supposed to be flirty and happy and fluffy, which it ended up being ... not so much), but I'm pretty happy with the way all my exchange fics turned out. And I'm very happy with what I received in return, so it was an excellent holiday ficathon season.

Even more exciting, apparently I've started writing Veronica Mars fic again:

Nice To Meet You Anyway (Veronica Mars - Casey/Veronica - PG-13 - 2462 words) Trust doesn't come that easily. Spoilers up to episode 1:9 - Drinking The Kool-Aid.

General Veronica Mars fic + fandom ramblings )

So I'm feeling very happily and productively fannish at the moment. Not to mention a couple of other fics I should be writing in Weeds and Skins, because I may be a lot of things, but lacking in new fandoms I am not. (OMG Tony/Effy! [livejournal.com profile] falseeeyelashes, I blame you and your epic OTP picspam.)

So, I'm really not sure when I'm going to have time to get around to actually watching television, but I feel like I'm okay with that.

From [livejournal.com profile] fannish5: List your 5 favorite unrequited love stories.

(Note: I may be taking a somewhat liberal interpretation of the prompt here. Basically, these are my favourite pairings that are, or were, some version of unrequited.)

Spoilers for Arrested Development, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Miss Match, The O.C., Weeds, and The Office )

So, basically, unrequited love stories are, like, a pretty big thing in television, but I had to stretch the prompt fairly liberally in order to answer it. Because, really, I'm not so much a fan of unrequited love. I mean, pairings where one person is really into the other, and then they pursue them and stuff? I'm all over. But pining is just ... really very much not for me, which is why I didn't include most of the major unrequited love whatevers in my fandoms. And I'm probably forgetting a bunch of pairings I really love, but I can live with that.
