I have progress! On an actual fic! You guys, I love the holidays.

[livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang

10811 / 10000

I am *finally* writing Justin/Alex again! Which, considering the last thing I wrote for them was for last year's [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang, is kind of fitting. (But bizarre, like, what was I doing for a whole year?)

Under normal circumstances, this thing would have been done already, except that I was up to, like, what was supposed to be the final climactic scene, and then I was like, wait, what if this wasn't the end? What if it was just the beginning, and actual ~stuff happened after this and it was less boring? Which - I actually realised, made it a much better fic, like, less boring=better, who knew? (And also much more big bang-like, since it's gone from being a basic action-adventure type thing that barely broke the word limit to a story with an actual plot and stuff.) Except it also pretty much doubled in size, which means I'm not so nearly done after all. But I'm getting there! (Five scenes to go, I think.) And it's over the minimum word count, at least, so the draft will definitely be ready by February.

I ♥ [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang.

(And also [community profile] festivids, which is v. soon. I can't wait!)

I'm still answering question over at that questions meme, which is super fun! Most of it so far is Greek, which is awesome, because I really love talking about Ashleigh and Rebecca and ASHLEIGH and forever OT3s. But I will talk about other stuff also if you ask me!
amathela: ([doom] olduvai)
My offer @ [livejournal.com profile] helpbrazil2011 | My offer @ [livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction

I'm offering the same thing for both: At least 3000 words of fic, with a starting bid of $5. (Bidding at [livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction is currently up to $15.) I've offered to write in the following fandoms:

Better Off Ted, Covert Affairs, Diplomatic Immunity, Disney RPF, Doom, Gilmore Girls, Greek, The Guild, Hawaii Five-0, JONAS, Legend of the Seeker, Make It or Break It, Miss Match, The O.C., The Office, The Office RPF, Princess Protection Program, She's The Man, Snow White: A Tale of Terror, Sonny With a Chance, Tin Man, Valentine, Veronica Mars, and Wizards of Waverly Place.

A more comprehensive list of characters and pairings I'll write is here, but if you'd like a fandom/character/pairing not listed, feel free to ask about it and I'll let you know.

They're both excellent and needy causes, so I'd encourage everyone to check out what's on offer at both communities and consider making a donation.
amathela: ([wowp] did you forget)
[livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction is holding a charity auction to raise money for those affected by the floods in Queensland. (I'm down in Melbourne, so I'm not affected, but I do have friends and family up there.) Right now, you can go check out other people's offers at the community, or sign up to offer something yourself.

I'm offering at least 3000 words of fic, with a minimum bid of $5. Het, femslash, or gen, AUs and crossovers are fine. You guys pretty much know what I can write, but here are some details anyway, and I'd be happy to answer any questions.

My thread is here.

Fandoms/characters/pairings I've offered to write:

[Better Off Ted] Ted/Veronica
[Covert Affairs] Annie/Auggie
[Diplomatic Immunity] Leighton/Leilani, Kirsty/Leilani, Leighton/Kirsty
[Disney RPF] David/Selena, Demi/Selena, Chelsea/Nicole
[Doom] John/Sam
[Gilmore Girls] Chris/Lorelai, Finn/Lorelai
[Greek] Ashleigh/Rebecca, Evan/Casey
[The Guild] Codex/Fawkes
[Hawaii Five-0] Danny/Kono
[JONAS] Joe/Stella, Nick/Stella, Stella/Macy
[Legend of the Seeker] Cara/Kahlan, Richard/Cara, Richard/Kahlan/Cara
[Make It or Break It] Sasha/Payson, Payson/Kelly
[Miss Match] Adam/Kate, Michael/Kate, Kate/Victoria, Nick/Victoria
[The O.C.] Ryan/Taylor
[The Office] Ryan/Kelly
[The Office RPF] BJ/Mindy
[Princess Protection Program] Carter/Rosie
[She's The Man] Olivia/Viola
[Snow White: A Tale of Terror] Will/Lilli
[Sonny With a Chance] Sonny/Tawni
[Tin Man] Cain/DG
[Valentine] Danny/Phoebe
[Veronica Mars] Lamb/Veronica
[Wizards of Waverly Place] Justin/Alex

I'm more than happy to write gen in any of those fandoms - particularly ensemble fic, or fic that features the characters listed. I can work with a specific scenario, a prompt, or whatever you feel like providing. If you're interested in a fandom, character, or pairing that isn't listed, just ask and I'll let you know what I can do :)

I guess this is as good a time as any to talk about what I wrote for [community profile] yuletide?

(Mostly because, AHAHAHA, I just went to update my fic masterlist and LJ rejected it because the post was too big. I refuse to believe that this means I have written too much fic. Anyway, most of my fic is still listed at the original post, but I had to move crossovers and RPF to a new post. Hopefully that will buy me some time - maybe a lot of time, if I write as little this year as I did last year.)

BUT ANYWAY. I wrote three fics for [community profile] yuletide:

Sex Is Not The Enemy (But You Still Are) (Legend Of The Seeker - Cara/Kahlan - PG-13 - 700 words) Kahlan meets Cara her very first day of college. It doesn't exactly go well.

Team Drama (Make It Or Break It - Ensemble - PG - 5990 words) It's war between the Rock girls and Ellen Beals. Spoilers up to episode 2:10 - At The Edge Of The Worlds.

She Thinks She's The Dispassionate One (Parks And Recreation - Ron/April - R - 1689 words) The Pawnee Government Ball. Super exciting. Making out with your boss. Super appropriate.

Here is me blathering about my assignments )

Speaking of awesome holiday exchanges - I actually finished (and uploaded) my [community profile] festivids assignment! This is a super big deal, because I have never managed to finish a whole vid before, and I spent a lot of time really thinking that I wouldn't be able to finish this one in time. Especially since my holiday plans meant I had to get it uploaded a week early (which, um, I am in New Zealand now? Just FYI, but I will be back on the 9th and obviously I still have internet access) - so, I spent a fair amount of time panicking and trying to decide if I should default, and then I just sat down and vidded the damn thing. And - I am really, super excited. I am even considering maybe making a treat, APPARENTLY THIS VIDDING THING IS REALLY COOL, WHO KNEW? I just really hope my recipient doesn't mind getting a novice vidder, I TRIED MY VERY BEST NOT TO SUCK, I SWEAR.

amathela: ([miobi] olympic gold)
+ Okay, so: I totally signed up for [community profile] festivids. This may turn out to be a terrible idea, I DON'T KNOW, but everybody who participated in it last year seemed super enthusiastic about doing it again this year, and I have no willpower whatsoever. Plus, maybe this way I will actually get the motivation I need to actually finish something? And the deadline isn't until January, when I'll be on holidays, so the timing works out, at least.

+ I also submitted my [community profile] yuletide nominations (Miss Match, Make It or Break It, Wizards of Waverly Place, Diplomatic Immunity, Doom, and RPF - The Office), but I'm still not sure exactly what I'm going to request. There's so much other stuff I want to read fic for, but I only get four requests, how am I supposed to narrow it down? Right now, I'm thinking:

Miss Match - because I request it every year, and even though I'll probably never get it, I can't bring myself to give up and use the slot for something else. It could happen!

Make It or Break It - Sasha/Payson! This is definitely one of my requests.

The Office RPF - BJ/Mindy. This is a maybe; I asked for it two years ago, and got not one but two amazing fics, so I feel like maybe I shouldn't ask for it again, but I really love these two a crazy amount, so.

??

Stuff currently vying for request #4: Valentine (damn it, forgot about this one - I may have to redo my nominations!), Wizards of Waverly Place, Princess Protection Program, Sonny With a Chance, Diplomatic Immunity (I really want this! There is literally no fic! But I might be in the same position with this request as I am with Miss Match, ie. nobody else has seen it or cares enough to write fic; I'm always worried when I have to nominate something from scratch), Doom, Push, Tin Man, Covert Affairs, Better Off Ted, Greek ... how the hell do I do this every year? At least I won't have any shortage of fandoms to offer, I suppose. And there are probably a dozen things I'm forgetting, and in January I'll be going, 'damn it, why didn't I ask for [insert fandom here]?'

+ We've started moving our stuff into the new house, it's very exciting! Except I've been neglecting homework in favour of packing, and I can't do that much longer, since the end of the semester is rapidly approaching.

+ And I just finished reading Mockingjay! I started The Hunger Games ... um, a few days ago? And finished the trilogy in three days, it was kind of like a mini-addiction. I do have thoughts, but most of them have been summed up elsewhere; overall, I was not in love with Mockingjay, but I still love the series a whole lot.
amathela: ([primeval] abby)
- My [livejournal.com profile] girlsavesboyfic story is probably not going to be finished in time, woe. But I'm really excited about it, so I'm still going to finish it; I just won't be able to post it for this particular challenge.

+ Sweet Drabblethon is taking prompts until October 8th. It's multifandom, so go leave a prompt, and maybe someone will be able to fill it - I left a Make It or Break It Prompt, so my chances probably aren't particularly high, but it's what I want, so whatever.

+ [community profile] festivids sign ups are open! I ... really should not sign up, but it's so, so tempting. If you are into vidding, though, you should definitely do that.

+/- Moving soon! On the plus side, shiny new house; on the minus side, haven't yet started packing. Ugh.
amathela: ([merlin] arthur/morgana)
I made a really good start last month, and then ... well. Three fics in three different fandoms (Make It or Break It, Pretty Little Liars, and Disney RPF), about 10,000 words in total.

The No Touching Rule (Make It Or Break It - Sasha/Payson - PG-13 - 8495 words) Summer wants to teach the girls about abstinence. Lauren wants Summer to marry her dad, Kaylie wants Austin to leave her alone, Payson wants to forget she ever kissed her coach, and Sasha just wants his gym back. (And Payson, maybe.) Spoilers up to episode 2:8 - Rock Bottom.

I Trust You (To Tie Me Up) (Pretty Little Liars - Darren/Hanna - PG-13 - 392 words) This isn't a game, he says, but of course it is.

I Think We're Almost Legendary (Disney RPF - Demi Lovato/Selena Gomez - PG-13 - 1300 words) Demi and Selena, filming the One And The Same music video.

Well, at least it's something, right? Plus it means I didn't flake out on [community profile] femslash10, which makes me happy. (In related news, my [livejournal.com profile] girlsavesboyfic assignment is due pretty much now, and I've ... started it? So hopefully it will be done by the 7th.)

ALSO: [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang SIGN UPS ARE LIVE FOR ROUND TWO. I really loved this challenge last year - it was my first (and so far, only) big bang, and OMG APOCALYPSE. Only, I have no idea what to write for it! I mean, I could write Wizards of Waverly Place again, obviously, but I also maybe wouldn't mind trying something new? Or maybe I should just go with what I know works for me, IDK. Any and all suggestions are welcome in the comments!

(Speaking of which - prompt fics are coming, I swear. I've just been super busy with uni assignments and other RL stuff, so everything's happening a bit more slowly than usual, but it's still happening.)
amathela: ([wowp] did you forget)
Random updates:

+ It's been over a year since I started writing Wizards of Waverly Place fic. And - I still probably consider that my current primary fandom, which means this is officially the longest I've ever been continuously involved in/excited about one particular fandom (and, yes, I know it's been ages since I actually posted WOWP fic, but that's because I've been super busy, not because I've lost interest). This is probably not exciting to anyone but me, but whatever.

When I first got into the fandom, I expected my excitement to last a few weeks, tops. Um ... yay?

+ I am working on the fic prompts from my last entry; there's still room for more requests, so if you want to make me write something, you can go over there and leave a prompt :)

+ Also, via [livejournal.com profile] dollsome:

Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.
amathela: ([miobi] once and future heroine)
From [livejournal.com profile] 0penhearts:

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble/fic of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. (If you can't write, I'm sure you can make something else.) (You don't actually have to repost this, if you don't want to, but it's always nice.)

Right now, I can probably write Make It or Break It and various Disney-related things (Wizards of Waverly Place, Sonny With a Chance, JONAS, Disney RPF). If you want to request something else, that's fine, but I can't guarantee anything.

Specific prompts/situations are definitely encouraged, and probably have a better chance of being written ;)

ETA: You can also ask for non-fic things, like picspams or fanmixes, but I'm warning you upfront that they'll probably take me a while.
amathela: ([disney] it'll last longer)
I finished my [community profile] femslash10 assignment on time! (After I told the mods I might not be able to, oops. But if my recipient ends up getting two fics, I'm cool with that.) It's not the story I started writing - that one is way longer, and as much as I love it, I just couldn't finish it by the deadline. I will still get it done, though! Because it is awesome.

Here's mine:

I Think We're Almost Legendary (Disney RPF - Demi Lovato/Selena Gomez - PG-13 - 1300 words) Demi and Selena, filming the One And The Same music video.

And I got fic in return:

Between Land and Sea by [livejournal.com profile] thatfangirl (Disney RPF - Demi Lovato/Selena Gomez - PG-13 - 2000 words) Things that begin and end while filming Princess Protection Program in Puerto Rico.

It's sad and sweet and awesome, and you should read it. (ALSO: BRAINTWINS!)

I am also writing Make It or Break It fic, yay! And I may be working on a picspam. I CAN'T HELP IT, THIS SHOW HAS TAKEN OVER MY BRAIN. I'm rewatching season one, and spoilers? )

(Also, regarding the most recent LJ fail: Please don't crosspost me, I won't crosspost you, and I have Dreamwidth invite codes if anybody wants one.)

IN CONCLUSION: CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT HOW RIDIC THIS PICTURE IS?

Under the cut )

MC DLOVE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.
amathela: ([life] partners)
... I actually wrote enough last month to do one of these. Which has not happened since January, oops. I wrote four fics in four different fandoms, and almost all of them were new to me (except Greek, in which I'd only written a drabble); about 18,000 words all up.

It's Not Like The Greeks Invented The Marathon (Evan/Casey - PG-13 - 5604 words) The ZBZs are forced to team up with Kappa Tau for an upcoming Greek event. Nobody is particularly happy about it. (Well, except Cappie, maybe.)

Might As Well Make It Bleed (Marshall/Mary - NC-17 - 1065 words) Marshall tries to talk Mary down. She has other ideas. Spoilers up to episode 2:1 - Gilted Lily.

Interpersonal Hygiene (Charlie/Dani - R - 1862 words) Five times Charlie and Dani showered together (sort of).

The Greatest Adventure In The History Of Basic Cable (Cain/DG - PG-13 - 9080 words) Sometimes adventures have a way of finding themselves.

Also, because I missed doing these, a (sadly) brief roundup of my fics written in February - June:

They Shoot Cylons, Don't They? (The Forgiveness & Stuff Remix) (Lee, Boomer - PG-13 - 885 words) He doesn't expect to see one of the toasters helping them, and he doesn't recognise her; he learned to block out her face, the particular way she smiled, long ago. A remix of Forgiveness by [personal profile] sabaceanbabe. Written for [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix. Spoilers up to episode 2:20 - Lay Down Your Burdens (Part Two); slightly AU for season three.

The Déjà Fait Fate Destabilizer (Wendy - PG - 1235 words) Press the button, go back in time, save the world. Easy?

Never Kill A Boy On The First Date (Justin/Alex - PG-13 - 23,208 words) In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer. In this case, she's Alex Russo - one girl in all the world born with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of their evil, blah blah blah. She also might be kind of falling in love with her brother. But first, she has an apocalypse to avert. Spoilers up to episode 3:5 - Night At The Lazerama.

That's a bit sad, whatever. In other news, I'm back at school, and it's ... okay? I have art this semester, so that's kind of fun. And my schedule does not suck. So, I'll probably actually be able to finish my [community profile] femslash10 assignment, yay. And possibly write other stuff. I'm setting small goals ;)
amathela: ([gossip] no guitar lessons for rufus)
Things I meant To Do In The Past Ten Days: Write my [community profile] femslash10 assignment. Finish the Tin Man space AU. Catch up on the multitude of fics I owe or have been meaning to write. Write lots of fic for Porn Battle X.

Things I have Actually Done In The Past Ten Days: Started my [community profile] femslash10 assignment. Thought about writing the Tin Man Space AU. Procrastinated on the multitude of fics I owe or have been meaning to write. Flirted with writing new fandoms for the porn battle. Watched way too much TV.

I rewatched Tin Man, and then I found the entire series of Life on sale really cheap, so I figured I might as well check it out. And it's so good! I'm not a huge procedural fan in general, but I <3 Life. Charlie and Dani! AND TED/OLIVIA, OTP!!!! And then I figured, I'd been watching Neal McDonough and Damian Lewis, so I might as well watch Band of Brothers? So I did, and it was amazing also; I loved just about everyone in it, but Speirs is totally my favourite. HE IS CRAZY AWESOME OKAY, AT FIRST HE IS JUST CRAZY AND THEN HE IS AWESOME. IDEC IF HE IS DAN HUMPHREY'S LAME 90'S DAD. Also, I have no Band of Brothers icons, but I have this one! IT IS TOTALLY RELEVANT.

And then, I guess I was missing Life (partners! ♥), so I started watching In Plain Sight. And I just finished watching Let's Get It Ahn, which was pretty much the greatest episode ever )

Also, I guess I started watching Everwood? It's so earnest and heartfelt and wholesomely progressive that it almost hurts, but I kind of love it anyway. And Amy. (Her ulterior motive is world domination! Nicely played, Emily VanCamp.)
amathela: ([bot] hbic)
Guess who got her first semester results today? Or, well, most of them - in a completely unsurprising turn of events, our math lecturer has not fulfilled her basic job requirements and submitted our results, so they're not up yet. But! I did pretty well in my other subjects - surprisingly well in some of them, I must have done better on my final assessments than I expected - so I'm happy. And math can bite me.

(Also, I feel like I can relax a little now that I know I'm doing well - not slack off, but, well, I'd really like not to disappear from fandom for an entire semester again, so.)

ALSO, DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MISSED? WRITING! I have made actual, significant progress on my [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic, and, apparently I am writing Tin Man fic now too? Roughly a metric ton of it so far, including a big dumb space AU (yay!); I have no idea where it came from, but I'm okay with that. Because writing is fun! Somehow I forgot this.

Writing Progress, Week One Of My Glorious Month Of Freedom:

So, I still need to get started on my [community profile] femslash10 assignment, but I'm looking forward to that, so it should be easy enough. Also, I'm trying not to guilt myself too badly about the [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic, even though I do feel terrible about it, because I know if I don't let myself write anything else until it's finished, all that's going to happen is that it's going to sit there mocking me and nothing will get written at all. Right now, instead, I'm using as self-bribery fodder, and that's working pretty well. Sometimes I have to trick myself into getting stuff done, whatever.

YOU GUYS I HAVE A WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE MOOD THEME, HOW MUCH DO I LOVE MY LIFE RIGHT NOW?

Why, yes, I am easy to please, thanks for asking ;)

I've been trying to upload mood themes today, since my old ones were getting kind of rusty - and since Brothers & Sisters casting spoiler )

Um, I feel like maybe I should put something else here to make this entry worthwhile? Hmm. I spent today rewatching Tin Man, which I really do love. (EXCEPT: CAIN/D.G., WHY NO MAKEOUTS?) And I've been writing-slash-procrastinating on my [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic, so, that's coming along. Slowly-ish. And ... that is pretty much all, I have no life now that I am on holidays, seriously.

In a fit of reckless optimism, I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] au_bingo and [livejournal.com profile] hs_bingo. Yeah, IDK - I have, like, a month before I go back to school, but whatever. So, mostly for my own reference:

Link to tables at LJ

So, I guess that's pretty cool? I have no idea how close I'm actually going to get to finishing either of them, but I do have a couple of ideas - like, the sword and sorcery prompt could totally fit the knight!Demi/princess!Selena thing THAT I WILL TOTALLY WRITE ONE DAY, I SWEAR. And for the future: author's choice prompt I guess I could write that Zac/Vanessa Back to the Future fusion that would be ridiculous but also pretty fun? And the High School bingo is probably a lot easier, since I have a lot of high school fandoms (and [livejournal.com profile] dc_high, it would be pretty cool to do a whole bingo based solely on that universe). But anyway - I am not going to make myself feel bad about this, since having lots of things on generally helps me get into the whole writing thing, and because the only person missing out if I don't finish it on time is me, so whatever.
amathela: ([greek] ashleigh/casey)
SO APPARENTLY I AM ALIVE AFTER ALL, WHAT UP INTERNETS?

Ahem. So. I finished my first semester of grad school! Classes are over, exams are over, placements are over. And now I have a whole month off, which is so ridiculous I can barely even process it right now. In a good way. My time will be my own again! I can barely even remember what that's like.

Anyway, onto Things That Are More Fun (But Are Not News, Some Of Them Happened In April, Whatever, I Have Been Gone For A Really Long Time):

- I finished [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix (which I still haven't reposted here, oops!). And I got two awesome remixes in return: Sharon by [personal profile] frolicndetour, and The Marble And The Sculptor by [livejournal.com profile] olaf47.

- I had to drop out of Remix Redux, sadface. But I still received a remix (which I feel guilty about, but it's awesome, so): Fair Play by [livejournal.com profile] penknife.

- ... and [livejournal.com profile] chaos_thon, too.

- But, my [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic is actually coming along! It has a plot and an outline and words and everything! And it's only four and a half months late and counting ...

- And I signed up for [community profile] femslash10, double yay! Because, did I mention I HAVE A WHOLE MONTH OFF? (Although: I did not ask for Tawni/Sonny femslash, even though I really wanted it, because nobody signed up to write Sonny With A Chance. I also did not ask for the WOWP/PPP crossover where Alex has to take care of this princessy chick, ugh! and why is she cute?, even though I really want to read that, too, because half my requests are already about people shaped like Demi and Selena, and I figured that was maybe enough. Probably.)

- I thought I would have more to say here, because of how I've been gone for, like, five months. I actually do have a lot of things I wanted to post, but haven't on account of how they're no longer really relevant. Like, Things That Are Gay: All Disney Shows Ever (aka. WHY TAWNI AND SONNY ARE FOREVER SOUL MATES, IT'S CANON DAMMIT!, AND IF YOU THOUGHT STEVIE WAS REMOTELY STRAIGHT I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT SHOW YOU WERE WATCHING, SERIOUSLY.) And Legend of the Seeker (spoilers: it's over! I'm sad!), and how I watched (and loved!) this season of Doctor Who, but that's over too, and Things That Are Gay, Part Two: I'm actually watching Pretty Little Liars and I kind of love it, even though it's ridiculous. Okay, that one is more current, but whatever.
amathela: ([disney] live to party)
My first term as a grad student is over! Which means I'm officially on holidays - at least for the next week and a half. \0/

So, what did I miss? It feels like I haven't been properly connected to fandom in forever, I've missed you guys. I have a massive backlog of fics, and I'm ridiculously behind on my TV watching - apparently the Greek season finale was on yesterday? I've only seen up to episode 13, so clearly this needs to be fixed ASAP.

In more exciting news, I finished my first ever big bang, yay! I wrote Never Kill A Boy On The First Date (Wizards of Waverly Place, Justin/Alex) for [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang, and I got three fantastic pieces of art for it - If The Apocalypse Comes ... (I'm Feeling Pretty Psyched) (fanmix) by [livejournal.com profile] tortugax, an untitled fanmix by [personal profile] roseclaw, and some amazing graphics by [livejournal.com profile] dhfreak. I am completely overwhelmed by their collective awesomeness. <3

Now, I have to go look at my to-do list ... which is like a mile and a half long, eek! I know I have gift fics to finish, my [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix, and maybe [livejournal.com profile] chaos_thon, but I'm honestly not sure if I'll be able to finish that in time. And a couple of assessments that are due the first week back, and homework I'm not fully caught up on, and resource folios, and reflections ...

Fic is coming first, I think ;)

Success!

!!!!!!!!!

YOU GUYS, MY [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang DRAFT IS DONE.

I mean, it's going to need some heavy editing - mostly for tone and pacing, but also for other stuff; I wrote it in a bunch of sittings, and didn't actually read over it each time, so there are probably a lot of words, phrases, etc. that I've overused. (God, this is such a rough draft.) And I need to make sure the plot actually makes sense, that there are no plot holes or stuff I've left out or stuff I've repeated, and I want to go over the plot and make sure I like it and there's nothing I should change or could do better. (Like the romance angle, which I was kind of like - should it be moving faster? Slower? Is it totally uneven? Should it be overt, or kind of unspoken like in Mnemonic Devices, OH GOD, SHOULD IT BE GEN? But I like where it ended up, I think, so I just need to go over the stuff leading up to that.) And it'll undoubtedly need a line edit for grammar/spelling/typos/whatever. And after get all that done, I think I'll send it off to beta :P

BUT. IT IS DONE, AND FINISHED, AND I CAN SEND IT OFF AND MAYBE, LIKE, NOT LOOK AT IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, WOULDN'T THAT BE NICE?

I think I'll start drinking now.

Next up: [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic, and then post-Yuletide fics and [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon and [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts, and then maybe stuff that's just for fun! It could happen.

Damn. For some reason, I was convinced that the porn battle didn't end for another few days - oops! Well, I'll be writing Cara/Kahlan fic anyway, just not for that.

My [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang fic is at 20,000 words, and the first draft is *thisclose* to being done. All that's left to write is the big final battle scene; I'm hoping I can finish it off tomorrow, otherwise I'll just have to send the draft off with notes like "insert cool fight sequence here," and "this part is in the cafeteria."

I really want to participate in [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon, since it's an awesome community, but I'm not sure if I'll have time. Still - if you give me the name of a female character(s) in any fandom you know I'm familiar with (and some kind of prompt), I'll try to write at least a drabble. Femslash and female friendships also welcome :D

And February birthdays! Happy upcoming birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] purple_cube, [livejournal.com profile] hobbitofkobol, [livejournal.com profile] boonies, [livejournal.com profile] _cereza, [personal profile] misscam, [livejournal.com profile] rosa_acicularis, and [livejournal.com profile] juleet! I hope you all have an awesome month, and if you'd like a birthday ficlet, etc. let me know and I'll try to get it to you on time :D
